ALEXI

I ruined it. Or more like Fury ruined it. If he hadn't came onto me, this would never have happened. But it's Slade's fault as well, he made me wear the heels. I bit my lip as I stared up at the white ceiling. It was my fault too. I wasn't made for living in this kind of world not like all these other people in the building.

“Here,” Slade entered the office. “It'll help with the swelling.”

I sat up. My mouth fell open when he knelt next to the couch with an icepack in his hand. Without warning, he pressed it against my ankle. I hissed, gripping the couch to keep myself from reaching forward. His skin brushed mine again making shivers run down my spine. I couldn't take the intensity anymore so I pulled my leg away causing the icepack to drop to the floor. Pressing his lips together, he stood then turned to face me.

“I'm only trying to help.”

“I know,” I whispered. “T-thank you. I just can't take it when you touch me.” I instantly regretted the words as soon as they fell from my lips.

His eyes narrowed on me but he said nothing. I could feel the anger and some other emotion radiating from him. With a clenched jaw, he span around and stormed out of the office. I jumped as the door slammed shut behind him.

“What did I do?”

* * * *

The car was extremely silent. Fury was gripping the steering wheel tightly. I wouldn't be surprised if the object snapped because of his tight hold. Being in a car with him was even worse than being in a car with his brother. The cologne he used was different from his brother. It smelled slightly spicy but it was addicting nonetheless. His car was also different. The seats were black leather and the car was also black with a white stripe down the middle.

“It's a Mustang.”

“What?” I frowned at him.

“The car,” he smirked at me. “It's called a Mustang.”

“Oh,” I muttered.

My cheeks heated, but I quickly turned back to stare out the window. After Slade had stormed out of the office, Fury had offered to take me home and I instantly agreed. If I could get my stuff and my car, I could finally figure out what to do. There was no way on this green planet earth that I would leech off of these two hot twins. Not that I wouldn't mind waking up every morning to their sexiness. I still couldn't decide what was more embarrassing; falling on my ass in front of them, or Fury carrying my to his car. It was a tie.

“Where will you be staying?” Fury broke the silence.

I shifted in the seat slightly before risking a glance at him. He was focused on driving. I bit my lip as I studied him. He looked so different from the first time I met him. Fury was dressed in a grey suit. His hair was combed back neatly and tied into a ponytail at the back. I could see the stubble already growing on his cheeks. What will it feel like against my skin?

“Lexi.” I blinked.

“I-I don't know,” I muttered. “Probably in my car until I find a new job and then a flat or something.”

“Why not go live with your sister? From what I understood, you lived with her before.”

“She kicked me out.”

The conversation died down after that. I couldn't understand why she would do that. She knew I had nowhere else to go. I breathed out before leaning my head against the window. It was going to be a while until we make it home since we were stuck in traffic. A black van was driving in front of us while a white one was behind us. It was probably just a coincidence but a part of me felt really uneasy. I sat up, glancing around nervously. The sidewalks were filled with shoppers. My heartbeat started to escalate as we slowed to a stop. Without really thinking of my action, I reached out gripping his thigh.

“Fury…”

“What's wrong?” He questioned softly, placing his hand over mine. “Alexi?”

“I just… something doesn't feel right. We need to get out of here Fury.” I begged him with my eyes.

My grip on his leg tightened as the doors of the van in front of us opened.

“Get down!” He pushed me down and just in time.

The front window shattered into tiny pieces that fell over us. Something hit the back of my seat making me jerk. A cry fell from my lips when a loud bang echoed followed by more glass shattering.

“Stay down,” Fury ordered.

No problem. I had no intention of getting up at the moment, not even with the seatbelt digging painfully into my skin. He shifted gears before pressing on the gas. The car moved forward bumping into the van. My body jerked with the force making my head slam painfully into the dashboard. We hit the van at the back too before he swung the steering wheel to the left.

“The people!” I turned my head to glance at him.

Fury was tensed. His jaw was clenched as he maneuvered the car from between the van's.

“They'll move out of the way,” he muttered, glancing at me.

I nodded silently. For their sake and for ours, I hoped they moved fast enough. Fury was driving at a dangerous speed on the sidewalk. I could hear the screams and shouts of the people. Minutes later we were back on the road speeding through traffic. He drove like a professional. I couldn't keep still anymore so I slowly sat up. Glass dug into my skin but my attention was on the front of the car. The window was gone with only some sharp shard's here and there. I glanced at Fury then behind us. The black van was gaining on us fast. A man leaned out the window pointing a gun at us. He fired hitting the back of the car. Fury gripped my arm pulling me down again.

“Call Slade princess,” he said softly, handing me his phone.

It took a few seconds before I could get the phone unlocked because of my shaking hands. Once I did, I searched until I found his number. The phone rang twice before he answered.

“Hello?”

“S-Slade,” I stuttered, feeling tears burning behind my lids.

“Lexi? What's wrong baby?”

“Put the phone on speaker princess,” Fury said softly.

I did what he said holding the phone with a shaky hand. He explained everything that had happened to his brother while they continued to shoot at us. What happened next seemed to be happening in slow motion.

The car was hit from the side making the phone slip from my hands. Glass hit my back, breaking skin as the car jerked. I could hear Fury cursing as he tried to control the car, but it was no use. He slammed on the brakes turning the wheel sharply to miss the oncoming car. It caused the car to start spinning. Over and over again until it finally came to a stop.
