ALEXI

I sat in the middle of the bed with my arms wrapped around my legs that was pulled to my chest. Fury leaned in the doorway watching me silently. His brother stood by the window staring at the sunset. Minutes had already passed yet neither of us spoke. I had a lot to think about. A lot of questions to ask, but at this moment all I could think of was the crash. I could remember now.

The car had come to a stop in the middle of the road. My head was pounding and so was my body. I could feel blood trailing down the side of my face. I wanted to move but my body was completely numb. Fury groaned from beside me. I forgot my own injuries as I turned my head to look at him. He was rubbing his temples with a bloodied hand. There was a cut on his right arm and on his chin. My eyes dropped to his leg, widening as I saw the piece of glass pierced through his skin. Without warning he reached down pulling the piece out. He only winced before looking at me. I saw his eyes widen. It only took him a few seconds to take in my wounds. Then the panic started to set in.

"You're healed," I whispered, glancing up at him.

My eyes trailed over him, searching for any signs of the wounds I knew he had. There was no marks on his face where the cuts were. I also didn't see an outline of a bandage on his arm or his leg. And based on the way he moved earlier, he wasn't hurt anymore. Fury nodded, but said nothing else.

Fury quickly undid his seatbelt before leaning over me. "Stay with me Lexi."

I only stared at him as he carefully moved the seatbelt from my body. His eyes then dropped to my side. I could see his face paling even more as he stared down at me. Slowly turning my head, I followed his gaze. My left arm was stuck between the metal door and the seat. Blood was pooling everywhere.

"Shit. Shit. Shit," he whispered. "Keep your eyes on me Lexi. I need you to breathe with me, can you do that?" I blinked.

It hurt. It felt like I was paralyzed from the waist down because of the pain. Fury was speaking but I couldn't hear what he was saying anymore. He moved, leaning half of his body over mine. Then he did something really unexpected. He pushed against the crushed door with his hands. The metal creaked and after a few seconds it started to move, freeing my arm. Excruciating pain flashed through my body making my eyes flutter close. I passed out. When I came too again, he was carrying me through trees. Everything was blurry because he was moving at an inhuman speed. A loud howl echoed around the trees making him tense.

"There were wolves." The tension in the room seemed to rise after that statement.

The memories were blurred but I remembered them. They were larger than ordinary wolves with abilities they didn't have. Fury had placed me beneath a tree before standing in front of me. I remembered his hands turning into sharp claws as the animals appeared.

"You gave me your blood," I muttered.

Our eyes locked. I studied them until I was hit by something I had discovered earlier.

"You're wearing contacts."

"Yes," he said. It was the first time he spoke in a while. "I wear them to hide my eyes from your kind."

"Why?"

"His eyes are not like ours because he's a hybrid," Slade said, turning from the window.

"Hybrid?" I was really confused right now.

It felt like we were speaking in riddles. Slade nodded, making my eyes move to Fury. He was watching me silently but when our eyes locked, he gave me a small smile.

"I'm as some would say, a half-breed. I have werewolf blood mixed with vampire blood."

"You move fast." I winced as soon as the words fell from my lips.

"Yes," Fury chuckled, "I move faster than wolves. I'm also stronger than them."

"You're twins," I muttered. I instantly regretted it. Both of them tensed and I didn't miss the look they gave each other. "I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be sorry." Fury walk over to the bed and took a seat on the edge. "A few years back I was kidnapped. Some really sick people used me as an experiment," he paused, "I was a pure blood like my brother before that; they mixed my blood and turned me into a hybrid."

Pain flashed through his eyes as he spoke, but when the last words left his mouth, that pain instantly changed into hatred. He hated those who made him like this. In a way I hated them too for what they did. It was easy to tell how much he hated himself for what he was. I felt his pain like it was my own. Leaning forward I gripped his hand. His lips twitched but he didn't smile. My eyes moved to Slade. He was watching us silently.
"What are you?"

"Are you sure you want to have this conversation now?" Slade asked softly, as he made his way towards us.

He took a seat next to me. Reaching out, he gently moved some of my hair behind my ear. My eyes fluttered close as I leaned into his touch. I missed it. I missed the lightning bolts when we touched. My eyes snapped open as I turned to face Fury. I moved closer to him then gripped his hand moving it to my cheek. There wasn't any lightning bolts.

"Why?" I whispered. "Why aren't there any... sparks when we touch?"

Fury glanced at his brother, sadness filled his eyes when he looked back at me.

"How about asking one question at a time?" Slade placed a hand on my shoulder. "You just woke up and your body is still in shock. I'll answer the question you asked earlier, and then later, when you feel better Fury will answer your questions."

I studied Fury silently. He gave me another small smile before pulling his hand from mine. Giving his brother a glance, he stood and walked out of the room. Tears filled my eyes and without any reason I started to cry. My body shook as the reality started to settled in. The car crash. The wolves. The fact that the twins aren't human. I would be dead if it wasn't for Fury.

"Hey," Slade whispered. "Don't cry baby it's going to be okay."

He wrapped an arm around my waist and gently pulled me back towards him. Slade laid down pulling me against his side. I placed my head on his shoulder then snuggled closer to him. His arm wrapped around my waist keeping me glued to his side as he stroked my hair with his other hand. I cried until the tears dried out and my body started to shut down. Slade slowly pushed me on my back before pulling his arm from around me. The bed dipped as he stood. A few seconds later I felt him cover me with a soft blanket. Without saying another word, he walked out of the room, closing the door softly behind him.

Why did he leave?
