ALEXI

Everything hurt. My body felt like I was ran over by a bus over and over again. I frowned, lifting my hand to rub my temples. My head felt like it was going to explode any second now. Opening my eyes, I blinked repeatedly as bright light suddenly assaulted my sight. Movement from the corner of my eye caught my attention, making me turn my head towards it. Slade was standing with his back to me by the window. Turning my head back, I stared up at the ceiling as I tried to remember what happened.

"I'm going to make it all go away."

I looked back at Slade. My eyes trailed over him, taking in his state of dress. Instead of wearing his usual suit he was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a white t-shirt. It stretched over his broad shoulders showing off the defined muscles of his back. His hair was a mess– like he ran his hand through it a few times in frustration. I closed my eyes sucking in a deep breath.

“Just one taste.”

He had fangs. He made me drink from his blood. Bloodsucker. No! He’s human, just like me. He dressed the same, spoke the same and ate the same. I saw them! Bloodsuckers! Monsters!

“Alexi.”

My eyes snapped open. He was hovering above me with a look of concern.

“Hi,” I whispered. His lips twitched but he didn't say anything to me for a while.

“How are you feeling?” Slade asked me, after taking a seat next to me on the bed.

“My head hurts,” I told him honestly. He nodded.

“Do you remember what happened?” He asked, after a few minutes of silence.

“No,” I lied.

I remembered. I was going to remember it for a while. The car crash and then those people. Fury. I remembered Fury or the man I thought was Fury. The image was still kind of unclear. It was something you read about in books or see in movies. I saw that! Saw things that's suppose to just be myths. Slade said nothing. His eyes searched mine for something. He clenched his jaw turning slightly away from me.

“You fainted,” he said softly, eyes on the floor in front of him. “After that you you've been in and out of consciousness for the past week.”

A week?

“If I only fainted, how come I've been out for a week? Why does my whole body hurt?”

Before anything else could be said, the bedroom door creaked open and Fury entered. Panic filled me, but I forced myself stay calm. It could’ve all just been a dream, it was a figment of my imagination. Or a side effect of hitting my head so hard in the car crash.

Like his brother, Fury was dressed in the same casual clothes. Instead of black jeans, he was wearing dark blue jeans with a black long-sleeved shirt.

“You're awake,” he breathed, in what sounded like relieve.

I forced a smile at him before pushing myself up to lean back against the headboard. My eyes searched for signs of the creature I saw, but I found none. Fury stepped further into the room, walking closer to the bed. He stopped behind Slade, staring down at me. His eyes were pulling me in, deeper and deeper. It felt like he saw right through me, right into my soul.

“Mine.” The voice was deep, slightly husky.

It made me shiver in delight and fear, but that one word wasn't spoken out loud. I heard it in my head. I fucking heard it in my head.

“Fury,” Slade said, his voice a low warning.

My eyes snapped to him causing the spell between Fury and me to break. He was glaring at his brother, his hands gripping his thighs tightly. I looked back at Fury, my eyes widening in surprise when he suddenly appeared in front of me .

“What are you?” I whispered.

This seemed to snap him out of whatever daze he was in. Letting out a chuckle he moved back from me.

“So you do remember,” Slade muttered half to himself, nodding.

Before they could do or say anything, I moved. I ignored their  calls as I ran out the bedroom door. I made it halfway down the stairs before I was caught. A large arm wrapped around my waist lifting me effortlessly from the floor. I was pressed against a defined chest.

“Running isn't going to do you any good baby,” Slade whispered, his lips brushing my ear as he spoke.

I whimpered trying to free myself from his grip by thrashing around. It only caused his arm to tighten around my aching body.

“Please don't hurt me,” I whispered, as tears started to flow down my cheeks.

“We are not going to hurt you princess,” Fury said, suddenly appearing in front of me.

He reached out stroking my cheek with his cold fingers.

“What do you want from me?” I asked. My voice came out shaky as my body started to tremble.

“You.” Both of them said at the same time.

I shook my head allowing my body go numb so he could let me go. His arm loosened. Using the few seconds I had, I kicked Fury with all my might causing him to tumble backwards. Spinning around, I threw a punch at Slade’s jaw. Now free, I ran back up the stairs and down the hall. Most doors were locked making the panic in me heighten. I ran into the first door I found unlocked. Slamming it shut, I turned the lock. Leaning back against the door, I sucked in shaky breaths as I tried to calm my erratic heart. I moved away from the door, stepping toward the window right across from me. The room was bare and the floor covered in a thin layer of dust. Standing in front of the window, I tried lifting it but it didn't move an inch.

“Open the door Alexi,” Fury ordered as he slammed against the door.

Running to the other side of the room, I searched for something– anything to get out. There was only one window and it was stuck. Then there's the door that kept them out, but for how long? Just then the door burst open and the twins stood there. I stared at them in shock as they stalked towards me– like a predator stalking its prey. Only, I'm their prey. Are they going to kill me? I sucked in a breath, slowly walking backwards.

A gasp fell from my lips as my back hit the wall right next to the window. They smirked, taking one more step before stopping inches from me.

“Nowhere to run sweetheart,” Slade said, slowly leaning forward.

I tensed as he trailed his nose along my neck. It made me shiver in fear and something else.

“You are ours,” his brother said, leaning forward as well.

His nose against the other side of my neck. I closed my eyes as they sucked in a breath to take in my scent. Why are they sniffing me? What did they mean I'm theirs? I'm my own person, not theirs. I don't belong to them. No!

“Ours.”
