I took a deep breath and walked up the steps to Louis and Niall's front door. I set down my guitar case and wiped my clammy hands on my jeans before knocking on the door. Within seconds the door flung open to reveal Louis standing there with a smug look on his face.

"Well hello Harry, here to see Niall are we?" he cooed.

I breathed out a short laugh and picked up my guitar and walked inside.

"But you don't like him do you?" he teased.

"Not at all," I smirked before huffing "cheeky bastard" under my breath. "

He's in the music room, down the main hall, third door to the left," Louis explained. "

You have a music room? Are you sure you have a problem taking your mum's money?"

Louis hit my arm lightly and laughed before taking off upstairs. I nervously toed off my boots and took off my jacket before making my way down the hall. I stopped in front of the music room door and took another deep breath. This is getting ridiculous. He's just a guy. A really cute, perfect guy. I lifted my hand to knock when the door swung open.

"Harry!" Niall cheered, his blue eyes lighting up.

"Niall!" I exclaimed trying to make sure my voice didn't tremble.

"Come on in," he snaked his arm around me and pushed me into the room by the small of my back.

Suddenly my heart was beating 10 times faster. We passed multiple band posters and guitars hung up on the wall before reaching two stools in the middle of the room where Niall took a seat. I followed his actions and pulled my guitar out of it's case.

"So uh, do you know how to play anything?" he chuckled nervously rubbing the back of his neck, "I'm sorry I haven't really taught anyone how to play before."

"It's fine," I reassured him, "I know a few chords and that's about it."

"Okay well, I could teach you a song I guess? Wonderwall is the first song I learned. It's like the easiest four chords ever."

I nodded and he pulled his stool up beside me.

A few hours passed of Niall leaning over my shoulder and repositioning my fingers, and giggling every time I would mess up but then telling me it was okay. Soon enough I was pretty sure I got the hang of it.

"Okay now how about we," Niall paused and sucked on his bottom lip to think, "play it back and forth to each other?"

He began strumming the song and I couldn't help but smile at the way he bit his bottom lip in concentration.

"Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you."

Niall's eyes flickered up and met mine for a moment before he focused them on the wall behind me. He tilted his chin up at me to signal it was my turn. I fumbled with the chords a little but managed to begin strumming smoothly. He looked rather impressed and I had a sudden boost in confidence and made sure I looked deep into his eyes while I sang.

"There are many things that I would like to say to you but I don't know how."

His face flushed at my gesture but he quickly recovered and started playing along with me. Then his phone rang.

"Shit," he whispered as he dug his phone out of his pocket and looked at the screen, "sorry but I have to go. You can come back anytime and we can pick up where we left off."

"Yeah for sure," I smiled. It really wasn't that big of a deal.

He flashed me a smile and quickly left the room without his phone. The phone rang again and the screen lit up. I picked it up to bring it to Niall but something caught my eye. A text from someone named Ashton.

"I'm out front."

Who was Ashton? Another text came in.

"Hurry so you're ready for tonight."

I had a strange feeling. It wasn't jealousy. It couldn't be I mean we're not dating or anything. The door flung open and my eyes shot up at Niall.

"Oh I was just going to-"

"Thanks mate," Niall smiled and took the phone from my hand, "see you around."

I stood there frozen for a while. I really had no right to be envious he doesn't even know I like him like that. He just called me mate for christ's sake. I sighed and sook my head and packed up my guitar to head home.

---

I opened the door to my apartment, dropped my guitar and threw my keys who knows where. I trudged over to my bed and flopped down on my stomach. Niall was the first guy I had feelings for since Zayn left me and he has a boyfriend. Or he might have. Why would Louis tell me to go for him if he was seeing someone? I let out a frustrated groan. Was it too much to ask for something great? I got up and pulled out my song book again and picked up my guitar from the front door. I wrote endless words down and angrily scratched them out. My phone vibrating broke my concentration. It was a text from Louis.

"Where are you???"

I looked at the time. 8:15pm. Shit. I looked back at my song book where I had only two lines written down that weren't scratched out.

"You're all I want So much it's hurting".

I threw the book aside and grabbed my keys which had landed on the floor not too far from where I threw them before rushing out the door.

---

"Look who finally decided to show up," Louis spoke as soon as I entered the kitchen, "don't worry Ed hasn't shown up yet. He won't even know you were late."

I sighed in relief and tied my apron around my waist.

"So, how were guitar lessons?"

"Uh pretty good,"

"Did you get any, y'know?" Louis wiggled his eyebrows and I smacked him in the arm.

"No! But uh, do you know who Ash-"

"Lads!" Liam interrupted, making his way over to us, "up to go to the club again tonight? Niall's playing again."

"Let's do it," Louis cheered.

My shoulders slumped. I didn't really want to see Niall again. I was upset with him. I didn't have a good reason to be but I was. It took just that moment thinking about him to get that feeling again. Like butterflies in my stomach. I wasn't fooling myself, I really wanted to see him. I continued washing dishes as quickly as possible trying to make time go by faster. And it did. Soon enough it was 11 and I walked into the diner to wipe tables.

And then I saw him.
