Thank you narrykissing for the new cover!!! I love it so much :)

I managed to collect myself before Louis and Niall returned to the shop. The last thing I wanted was for them to come back and find me curled up in a ball under the desk, sobbing. I didn't have a set plan on what I was going to tell them. I was unsure if I should even mention that Zayn got out of jail, let alone that he practically told me he was going to kill me. I didn't need them worrying over me.

Louis came through the door, lugging a heavy looking paint can in each hand.

"Glad to see you didn't burn the place down in my absence," Louis jeered smugly.

"I was close," I retorted, my voice coming out stronger than intended.

Louis looked puzzled. "You alright?"

"I'm uh, yeah," I contemplated speaking up about Zayn but I pushed the idea away.

"Any new appointments?"

"Nope."

The bell on the door chimed again and I heard a grunt escape from Niall. I looked in his direction and saw him dragging 4 paint cans.

"Seriously, how much paint do you need?" he groaned, setting the paint down on the floor. His eyes trailed up to mine and his expression softened.

"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked gently.

Apparently, I didn't collect myself as well as I had imagined.

I bit my lip, thinking of an excuse or what would happen if I just came clean about the whole thing.

I didn't fully process any of my thoughts before blurting out "Zayn got out of jail."

Niall's face grew pale and I kicked myself for only thinking of myself when I saw the look of sheer terror on his face. Of course this information would worry Niall. He would obviously think that Zayn was still aiming to murder him. That wasn't the case.

"How the fuck did he-" Louis breathed out in astonishment.

"He got bailed out," I shrugged.

"Are you telling me he came in the shop?" Niall growled as the information clicked in his mind.

"Yeah," I squeaked out.

"And what did he hurt you?" Niall stormed towards me looking like a mother bear protecting her babies.

He held my arm and examined it as well as my face.

"No. Well he didn't, not yet," my voice went high at the end like a question.

"Not yet?" Louis spat.

"Well, I mean," I paused and tugged on my hair. Something I still wasn't used to was people being worried about me which made me regret confessing. I felt like I was being suffocated when I knew all they had was good intentions. "He asked where Liam was and I told him what happened and I accidentally let it slip out that it basically my fault and then he practically threatened to kill me so," I finally rambled out all at once.

"Holy shit," Niall gaped, sounding like he was out of breath, "well what should we do? You should call the cops right?" his voice suddenly raised.

"No!" I shouted out, "I mean, he only knows where I work since I moved and everything. He won't come here and do anything while there's people around."

I don't know why I was defending Zayn so much. It would be simple to tell the police that a person that already had a criminal record was threatening to end my life.
