What was he doing here? I was reluctant to go out into the diner but I decided I wouldn't let him stop me from doing my job. I took a deep breath and walked quietly as possible. Maybe he wouldn't even notice me.
He did.
"You look cute wiping tables," he sneered.
"Fuck off Zayn," I grumbled. I was going to take any of his shit. Not right now.
He narrowed his eyes at me. "Feisty aren't we? If you knew how to properly manage your money you wouldn't have to be here and maybe-" "
Maybe what? You'd still be with me because you only wanted me for my money? I spent it all on you Zayn. You have someone new to waste all their money on you so can you get the fuck out of my life?" I snapped.
I looked up and saw him slowly making his way over to me, clenching his fists. He kept lurking towards me until his nose was nearly touching mine. He breathed heavily and the stale smell of cigarettes on his breath filled my nostrils. I quickly blinked away tears that were threatening to spill.
"Fine," he snarled, grabbing my arm and pulling up my sleeve, "but remember I still own you." He slowly backed away from me and left the diner.
"What the hell was that?" Louis gaped.
I hadn't realized he was behind me the whole time.
"How does the bastard "own you"?"
I looked down at my feet suddenly, feeling very upset about the whole thing.
"He uh," my voice cracked and I blinked furiously trying so hard not to cry.
A few tears ran down my face to my neck and I quickly wiped them away. Why was I even crying? He didn't deserve my tears. I looked up and saw that Liam had entered the room and he and Louis were looking at me with concern.
"He gave me this tattoo," I finally got out, pointing at my "A" tattoo.
"Oh," Louis said almost at a whisper, "why an A?" he asked carefully as if what he said could break me.
"I don't know," I shrugged. I really didn't know why. "He wanted to prove I was his so I guess he just put down the first thing that came to mind."
Liam looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed in concern before pulling me into a tight hug.
"Really I'm fine," I gave a sad attempt at a laugh into his shoulder.
Liam said nothing and rubbed my back to comfort me.
"You know," Louis began, "I'm pretty good at tattoos, as you already know. I could cover it up for you or something?"
"Thanks," I nodded, pulling away from Liam.
"We should probably head out," Liam motioned towards the door, "Niall's on at 11:30."

We pulled in to the familiar alley behind the same club we went to just a few nights ago. We went in through the same back door and pushed through the groups of people who were dancing around madly. I spotted a familiar blonde boy standing at the bar waving at us. He was talking to an unfamiliar, taller boy.
"Hey guys!" Niall greeted, "this is Ashton."
Oh so this is who was texting him.
"Hey nice to meet you," he cheered, in an Australian accent.
"What?" I pretended not to hear him.
"Nice to meet you," he said slightly louder and smiled exposing his dimples.
I rolled my eyes with no attempt to hide it. He was cute. Really cute. I kept thinking of the text he had sent Niall earlier. Hurry so you're ready for tonight. I couldn't stop myself from thinking about what they would be doing later tonight. I was so lost in thought I hadn't even noticed Niall had taken the stage and Ashton had moved up right in front of him.
Niall sang, "I know I shouldn't tell you but I just can't stop thinking of you, wherever you are."
God, he sounded so beautiful. And I hated him for it. I hated him for being so perfect yet so out of reach. I narrowed my eyes at him. He was looking directly at Ashton who was nodding along to the song. After singing his other songs, Niall came back over to Liam, Louis, and I to ask how he did, yet again with Ashton trailing behind him. Instead of complimenting him I went to the bar to order 5 shots for us. Everyone cheered as I brought them over and downed them quickly. I went back to get 5 more for us. We drank them. I went back for one just for myself. I was pissed off over this situation I had no control over so this seemed like the proper solution. I stayed at the bar this time and ordered another which I drank as fast as I can. I grimaced as the alcohol burned down my throat.
Then I ordered
