"you have to join our team, at least for the last year!" kaelin said with a smile. "you still have time, baby, it's only september." baby shook his head.

"i don't have time for basketball, you know that." he said.

"right! work." kaelin said. "what does really take so much time at work? you know practice is like an hour or two after class ends."

"i can't tell you, kaelin." baby shook his head again but smiled faintly.

"baby! are you talking about joining our team?" jessie asked as he and bella took their seats opposite kaelin and baby at the lunch table. baby put his head between his hands. 

"hasn't he already? i mean, you're so tall. i thought you are playing ball." bella spoke.

"i'm not joining." baby declared.

"dude! please do us a favour and join!" jessie put his hands together in a begging gesture. "we've been begging you for years."

"i don't have time for basketball." baby said. 

"well, if he doesn't join, i will have a cheering buddy while i watch you two play." bella said. oh, no. that's even worse. maybe i should join the team? bella's eyes travelled from kaelin's to jessie's who had doubtful expressions on their faces.

"dude, you would be so good." jessie said, breaking the silence. "as bella said, you're tall, taller than all of us. you would be incredible on the field."

baby shook his head again, then he rested it on his arms folded in front of him on the lunch table. 

"at least come to our games." jessie said. "you'll keep bella company."

"maybe." baby said.

"the closest one is next friday." kaelin said. 

"please come! i don't want to be alone there, it'd be embarrassing to cheer for jess alone." bella said with a begging smile.

"okay." baby said and sighed deeply afterwards. i guess it couldn't be too bad.

"yay!" jessie, kaelin and bella squealed. because baby never went to any games at his school. baby rolled his eyes and buried his head in his folded arms.
