"you're a popular guy, too." she said suddenly. "why wouldn't jessie suggest me to you? you're obviously not a big asshole and idiot like him."

baby looked at bella with raised eyebrows. "do you even... know what i'm like?" he asked her and laughed.

"oh, right." she said. "that's why i hadn't really seen you before i met jessie. but i guess we're really... the same people in the crowd, you know?" bella fiddled with her fingers. "god, i can't believe him. how can he lie straight to someone's face? it's like him and teresa are playing a prank on me!" 

bella groaned. "what a dickhead! i hate him." she hit her fist against the front panel of baby's car and then immediately retracted her hand. "i'm sorry, i didn't... want to do that." bella said and crossed her arms over her chest, breathing slowly and deeply.

"are you okay?" baby asked. 

"i'm fine." bella replied. "at least i think so. no, i'm angry. very, very angry." she looked out in front of the car. "god, i really do hate that guy." 

there was silence for a few moments, baby and bella were both looking out the big front window.

"and i if i break up with him, it's not even gonna be much of a loss." bella admitted. baby almost jumped up. really??? "i mean, my dad hates jessie's whole family. he doesn't want to work with his dad, and he doesn't want nor need the money jessie's dad is sending us. i really see nothing bad about leaving jessie."

baby nodded. "don't rush it." he said.

"what do you mean?" bella asked, turning her head to baby.

"take your time. you don't want him to know someone told you something." baby suggested. "he'll suspect something's up."

after a few moments of squinting her eyes and silence, bella nodded. "okay." she agreed.

"wanna go home?" baby asked, starting the car. 

"yes, okay." bella said. she buckled her seatbelt and crunched in a small ball in the corner of her seat. "i really can't believe this. how are people like him allowed in this world? is he legal?"

baby chuckled loudly.
