jessie and bella were sitting at a table in blue benns. but they were alone, and sitting across each other. it was a serious occasion, but bella was fighting a smile threatening to break out.

she couldn't stop thinking about her encounter with baby on tuesday. bella wanted to stay in that janitor's closet forever. there they were alone, unbothered and enjoying each other's company.

so far, it was bella's favorite memory with baby, favorite moment. they were kissing and talking and laughing. baby was so anxious about getting caught and the teacher being mad at them, bella would only have to kiss him to calm the boy down.

baby was so lovely, and cute and shy,a nd everything bella thought she needed. she felt like he was just... so right. and now bella was sitting across the guy who was the complete opposite of baby, despite them being best friends.

"what's up, babe?" jessie asked before drinking his glass of juice almost fully empty. bella would have vomitted right then and there if she was a little less polite. disgusting piece of-

"why do you think people lie to each other?" bella asked, trying not to jump right into the subject. jessie's eyes widened for a split second and he crossed his arms over his chest. he was fidgeting with the fabric of his jacket.

"wh-what do you mean?" jessie asked, leaning his shoulders forward.

"like, what do they do that for?" bella questioned. "for someone or something?"

"maybe for someone." jessie replied. "where are you going with this?" he was confused.

"i just like to know what makes people lie to others." bella admitted. "are they protecting someone or theirselves?" she smiled faintly to herself and hummed. "why do you do it?"

"huh? what?" jessie asked, obviously being disturbed.

"why do you lie, jessie?" bella asked, looking at jessie with narrowed eyes. "and, pretty please, don't deny it." she pleaded silently.

jessie was silent, but his eyes were nervous. gotcha.

"do you do it for yourself or... teresa, maybe?" she questioned. "you certainly don't do it for me, i'm very sure." bella stated.

jessie was starting to grow anxious. bella knew he realised what's up.

"how could you think about doing something like this to a person?" she asked. "i'm afraid you only have, will and do care about yourself."

"what did i do?" jessie asked. it took a second or two for bella to register that jessie had really said that. she laughed out loud at his words.

"don't pretend like you don't know." bella said, her eys wide with excitement and rage. "you did it, not me."

"bella..." jessie trailed off. "what did baby tell you?"

"no one needs to tell me anything." she said. "i found out by myself." bella stated. jessie was silent, and bella studied him for a few minutes of silence. "why did you wrap me around your finger?" she whispered to him.

"because i... figured it'd be nice of me." jessie replied in a kind of obvious tone of voice. bella laughed.

"sure."

"bella, we can still work things out." he said. "we don't have to end us."

"yes, we do." she said. "and you know what?" bella asked. jessie looked at her.

"it would have been nice of you to return the feelings." she said and stood up, taking her backpack with her. "at least for some while."

bella walked away from the table jessie was currently sitting at alone. she stopped at the exit door and then considered going back to the table and downing her coffee on jessie's head.

nah, that wouldn't be much of an embarrassment for him. jessie needed to feel exactly what bella was feeling, in the same intensity. she would embarrass him at school, in front of everyone. that way he'd feel the same.
