Chapter 18

Let me just start of with, what a great introduction and appearance. So far, this whole moving in with my dad thing; isn't really working out for me.

Right now, he was making plenty of phone calls, with Ivan's mom; her name is Linda, sticking to his side trying to calm him down. While Ivan and I are cleaning up the mess my father had made and just the dishes in general.

My father had already told me to stop he said 'this is why I hired a maid.' And blah blah blah. It makes me feel bad when the rich say things like that, because we're very much capable of doing these sort of things, but becoming right, comes with a side of laziness you adapt to.

Just because you hired these people and they work for you, does not mean, in any sort of sense; that they're below you and or mimicked as slaves or peasants.

These people are just like us, they may not have as much money and they're probably a lot nicer and tolerable to deal with, especially our maid. But the difference with our maid is that she seems to be getting treated different. I have a little thought that she is not just the maid, but perhaps someone my father spends more time with?

The door slammed open and my father stormed out, not bothering to look at us. He found his way to the front door and didn't hesitate to look back, he just left us with the sound of the door slamming and echoing in these massive rooms.

Linda came into the room we were currently in. Her head was bowed and she looked absolutely exhausted. I asked Evan to go grab a glass of water, while I sat her down and talked to her.

I grabbed her hand and led her to the living room, another beautiful room; which my dad clearly had no say on.

I grabbed her hands between mine and she looked up at me, sadness evident in her eyes. She couldn't even bear to look up at me.

"Don't let it get to you." I spoke softly.

She shook her head. "He's just being getting worse, all he thinks about is his business."

I exhaled. "He's just dealing with a lot right now." I reasoned.

Her head tilted up a little, her hair covering her face. "It's been going on like this for a while and I don't know what to do."

I put my finger on her chin and tilted her head up, to be able to meet her eyes. Tears traveling down her face. I pulled the hair covering her face to the side. I immediately saw a cut just under her eye and her eye had blackened, that I hadn't been able to see before, she was clearly trying to hide it.

"Who did this to you?" I growled.

She was flustered. She put her head in her hands and let out her tears. I rubbed her back and waited till she recovered a bit.

She tilted her head up a bit. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."

I sighed. "It's clearly not nothing, or there wouldn't be a gash on your face."

She shook her head.  She was being stubborn about it. "I can't, I can't tell you Ivory."

I rolled my eyes. "And why is that?"

She inhaled. "Because if you knew, you'd change your mind."

What is she going on about? I have a clue who it is, but I can't make assumptions and besides, I need to know her reasoning.
