"Good, because to me it definitely doesn't look like you're completely here." Dick says as he watches me finish the machine.
"You might be right about that. I was just a little lost in thought. But we're done here now, we'll test it tomorrow when all of the Leaguers are here." I say with an exasperated sigh as I step back and look at the glistening machine.
"Do you think this is really going to work?" He asks as he wraps an arm around my waist. Leaning into his side I close my eyes enjoying having him there to support me.
"I hope so I really need to get back there. Besides the blue prints should be correct, then again I still have no clue how the doorway that brought me here opened up. I mean I am somewhat glad I made it here, of course." I grin turning to him and intertwining our fingers and pulling him towards the door.
"Now where are we headed?" He chuckles following behind me as I bob and weave between people in the halls.
"You know since I've arrived and since we've become whatever 'this' is we haven't been on a legit date or outing. That wasn't work related, of course. But this might be our last day of semi peace together, and I'm not going to waste it." I tell him as we finally make it to the Zeta-tubes as I bounce excitedly in place.
"You know you're right. And I think I know just the place for us to go." He grins as he puts in a location for us. A bright gleam in his eye as he pulls me into the zeta-tube with him.
"Someone's getting excited, finally. So where are we?" I ask as we touch down I see lights and the perfectly round moon bouncing off of the bay. Shocked into awe I gaze at the beautiful sight, feeling Dick as he wraps his arms around my waist and placing his chin on my shoulder.
"Coast City, The Flashes home town. It's actually pretty beautiful even more so with you here. But this isn't the only reason I brought you here. I brought you because of this," He chuckles turning me around. "Is the best pizza place on the west coast. And I figured the best deserves the best right." He tells me as he guides both of us towards the two story building.
As I gaze about the area the smell of pizza engulfing me. Closing my eyes and inhaling the amazing aroma I try to fight back the drool.
"Oh my Thor that smells amazing!" I groan as I turn back to him. "This is going to be so much fun!" I beam as we walk towards the restaurant.
An hour in a half later Dick and I sat in a booth laughing and stuffed full of pizza. The night had turned into the best date of my life. We exchanged stories back and forth throughout the night, there was never a boring moment between us.
"I can't believe that! Bruce fighting an Orca woman! That is insane, almost as insane as him not telling you about the mullet." I giggle as I place a hand to my chest trying to calm myself down.
"Hey the mullet wasn't all that bad. I mean it wasn't exactly good but it could have been worse." He chuckles watching me intently.
"I don't see how. What? Do I have something on my face?" I ask my hands shooting to my mouth. The pizza was absolutely delicious but I didn't think I'd made a mess.
"No. I'm just happy to see you having so much fun. Honestly I'm glad we did this especially before we get launched into an all out war." He says continuing to smile at me as the mood becomes a little more solemn.
"I am too. Come on let's go outside." I say standing from the booth smoothing out my clothes.
Standing from his side of the booth, Dick intertwines his fingers with mine as we walk towards the exit. Waving goodbye to the unbelievably hospitable restaurant staff we walk out into the brisk night. The wind picking up slightly as we get closer to the harbor.
"I hope we get to do this more often even after whatever happens." I sigh enjoying the calming atmosphere and the relaxing breeze.
"You know we never really talked about what you're going to do once everything on the other side is sorted out." Dick started as he leans his back against the railing looking down at me. Glancing up at him I grin and turn to face him.
"I've definitely put a lot of thought into that actually. There is so much here for me, there are so many things to learn and so much to do. But back there, those people are my family and I've grown to love them all. And not to mention you're here. I want to stay here with you but I can't abandon my family." I tell him as I gaze back out at the water.
"I understand completely. I mean even though Bruce techinically isn't my father he did raise me and has a pretty special place in my life." He says continuing to watch me.
"How about this." He begins fulling turning to me. "The League has plenty of space for you to stay for awhile and the 'Avengers' have an HQ where you've been staying for awhile right?" He asks me as he gets more excited, nodding yes he continues. "After this whole Norse God thing is over we stay, let's say a week, on each side and figure out where we'd like to plant roots. That way we could build another one of those machines on that side and you wouldn't have to choose." He says with an excited grin splitting his face.
Watching Dick get excited slowly but surely brought a grin to my face as well. As I thought over his idea a smile covered my entire face.
"Richard Grayson not only are you a genius you are flat out amazing!" I laugh hugging him tightly.
This way I can still see my family and come back to learn more about this place, about what made Dick so wonderful. I can come back and spar with Black Canary and hone my shape shifting skills with J'onn. And I can be with Dick.
"We've got to get back! We've got to talk to the League! Can you imagine! I can introduce the heros on this side to the heros on the otherside! The oppurtunities are endless!" I bubble as I pull away from Dick and run my hands through my hair in excitement. My face becoming sore from all of the smiling.
"You're gorgeous when you're excited. Come on let's go it's almost morning anyway." He chuckles turning back to the water as the first light of the sun begins to peak over the horizon.
"We've been up all night!" I squeak skipping back over to his side and watching the sun come up.
"Yes we have. But I regret nothing." He says with a smirk as he makes the call for us to return to the Watch Tower. As we materialize back at the zeta tubes we make our way up to where J'onn is standing.
"Hey J'onn do you know if Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are here?" I ask as I gaze out over the rest of the heros wandering around the station.
"They are indeed here. You might find them in the Promenade." He says as he moves about the monitoring area.
"Thanks!" I smile as I grab Dick's hand and pull him towards the gathering room.
