I race out of the seats and run to Enoch. I crouch down defensively over his body, shielding him from Barron, who towers over me, smiling. I touch the side of Enoch's neck, relief coursing through me as his pulse beats steadily against my fingers. Thank God he ain't dead.

"Aww, look at that. Love on the battlefield it would seem." A voice taunts.

I stand up and look defiantly at Barron. Oh, you're gonna get it now, motherfucker!

"Come at me BITCH!" I scream in his face. Barron's face curls into a snarl and his hand morphs effortlessly into an axe. He swings his axe-hand at me, aimed right at my neck. I duck under the blade. I shape shift my foot, transforming it into concrete, then kick Barron right where the sun don't shine. He screams in pain and clutches his testicles with his non-axe-hand. Pity. I think. If only he decided to clutch them with his axe-morphed-hand.

He recovers quite quickly, too quickly, considering I just kicked him in the balls with a foot made of concrete. He only took about two seconds to recover and then he's back at full capacity for fighting. Fan-fucking-tastic. I should have turned my foot into a blade and cut his little friends off when I had the chance.

Barron morphs his other hand into another axe. Double fan-fucking-tastic. Two axe hands now, bringing out the big guns. Let's go, show me whatcha got, old man hollow!!

I copy him, shape shifting my hands into swords protruding from my wrists in a wave of blue. His eyebrows rise steadily.

"A shape shifter? Oooh, very peculiar! But peculiar enough to beat a morph?" Barron ponders. Hmm. I actually don't know. Morphs are very similar to shape shifters, but there are a few key differences. Morphs are called morphs because they, well, 'morph'. Look at it this way. Morphs 'convert' into something else by turning straight from one form to another. Shape shifters 'transform' into something else by a physical sign, which is my skin flipping over, while morphs just 'morph' into their next state without anything any physical signs. That's why when Barron morphs, his skin doesn't flip over, like mine, nor does anything physical have to happen for him to change forms. Morphs are stronger and more durable than shape shifters, but if they turn into another peculiar, they can't use their peculiarities, like I can. So to Barron's question, is a shape shifter peculiar enough to beat a morph?

"I sure as hell have no fucking clue, Barron." I tell him. "But we're about to find out!"

Without a second's hesitation, I lunge at Mr. Barron. For Enoch, for Emma, for Jake, for Victor, for all my friends, for Miss Peregrine, for Miss Avocet, for all of Peculiardom. And I'm aiming for the throat. I'm aiming to kill.
