Chapter Six - Being Named As A Plus One.
-----
GRACE'S POV
"Grace, I got promoted to a really good post. And that offers me a car, children's study scholarship and ...a house in a better colony." Everything in the room went silent. I was just trying to process his words.
I gulped down trying to stop tears that threatened to fall from my eyes. I just shut my eyes close and wondered how it would be without them.
"Grace, say something." Marissa almost sounded pleading. I opened my eyes and shook my head smiling at them. I cleared my throat to clear the knot in it.
"Marissa, Wade, I'm happy for you guys. But it just came as a shock to me. And I'm excited about this. I'm just going to miss you guys and it'll be weird not having you around anymore." I said as I smiled even through my teary face.
"Grace, we wondered if you'd come live with us," Wade said and Marissa nodded frantically, which indicated their true motives. They cared for me. I shook my head at them.
"No, Wade. I'm grateful that you even thought about this, but no. I can live all alone. I've saved money and even I'm going to find a new place to live, cause this place is too unsafe." I said and they nodded understanding.
"And you know that Sierra and Alison have been off to other places and settled there, I have to find a place that is in a safe locality. And I promise I'm gonna find a good place to live." I promised them and they both approved.
"I'm proud to have a sister like you, so strong," Wade said and Marissa nodded along with him. He gave me a proud hug and I smiled along with them.
"So, when do you'll leave?" I asked and, dare I lie that I wasn't dying to know that.
"In two or three weeks. It's just going under renovation, according to our preferences. We have to visit. Marissa and I will decide the colour and rooms and decorating ideas for it. You can join, too." Wade said and I nodded.
"That's good, but I won't be joining. I'm getting more shifts to get more money so I can rent a new flat and a more payable job, too." I said and he understood.
"I do have two more weeks to annoy you. Don't worry, go and take rest." I said to lighten the atmosphere. Wade chuckled.
"Sure you have."
They both bid their goodbyes to me and slowly walked two blocks away, where their house was situated.
I shut the door and locked it, carefully. I felt scared than ever. I thought Wade and Marissa would be there even though Sierra and Alison had gone. Now even they were moving away.
I couldn't face the fact that I will be all alone. With no one around me known in this area, which was off the cop limits. I had decided to get a good job soon and shift away from here.
Being worried, I let myself fall in a light stressful slumber on the uncomfortable couch itself.
-----
When I woke up in the morning, all I could think about was my body, which ached on every part. I woke up with several body aches. Especially, my neck.
Somehow, I took a hot water bath and the pain lessened but was still present. I immediately put on a navy blue shirt and grey pants. I pulled a scarf and put it around my neck.
