We talked some more about how our lives were going and how any friends we were making. "It was pretty easy to talk to people and make friends when I said I knew a star, so thanks for that, babe. What was weird was the fact that I think everyone knew who we were already. The Republic kids are like their own little group that immediately knows the new people!" I chuckled.
He raised his eyebrows. "Well, first off, you're welcome. Second, that's a little weird. Are they physic?"
"Ha ha! Maybe! So, are you excited? Mister Lost Boy?" I nudged him.
He chuckled. "Yeah, yeah. I think this is gonna be the big one!"
"The big break?"
"The big break!"
"Eeee!" I jumped on top of him making us fall onto my bed. I kissed him then got up and jumped around. "This is great news! Agh! Corey, I'm so happy for you!"
He held me, mainly to stop me from jumping. "I'm glad you're happy, but jeez! Calm down, baby!"
"Sorry. It's just. . . ugh! I'm so happy."
He gave me peck on the cheek. "I am too. . . . 'Cause I got an adorable girlfriend!" He showered me with kisses, still holding onto me. He always knew how to make me blush! Red faced, I poked him. "Awww. Oh great, now I'm blushing. And you know why I'm so happy?"
"Well ya. The big break. Did I give ya amnesia kisses or somethin'?"
I chuckled. "That, AND because I just realized the most perfect boy in the universe is mine!" I gave him a quick kiss before slipping away. "So, what do you wanna do now?"
He smiled. "Wanna go shoot some ducks?"
We went downstairs into the Rec Room, the name my family gave the room with the big dusty bookshelf and the unravelling carpet, where there was a Nintendo set up. I took one of the guns and pretended to shoot it, then posed with the gun close to my head. "Who wants to be player one?"
"You can be. It's your Nintendo." Corey sat down in one of the white leathered seats. I sat in the one next to him after turning on the Nintendo and picked up the controller. "You sure you don't wanna play Mario instead?"
"Yea!"
"Okay. . . . I'm gonna say it, I've been told I have good aim. So don't come crying to me when you lose."
He smirked, making me smile. I've found his competitive side and I've just poked it! "Ooh, you sound very confident. But I'm not gonna lose, ha ha! It's okay, I'll still love ya when I win!"
"Ooh." I clicked on the duck shooting game. "Got your gun?"
"Locked and loaded!"
"Okay. . . ." I got the game ready. The dog came along with three. . . two. . . one. . . . A duck flew past the screen. I shot it. More ducks, more chances for Corey to catch up. I shot two more. The cute little dog was on the screen, picking up the ducks that we shot and showing them off. Finally, the round ended. It showed us how many each of us got. I looked at my score, a smug little smile on my face. I had won. Corey looked over at me then rolled his eyes.
"Whatever. Best two outta three!" He kept his gaze trained on the screen, his little gun in his hand.
"Okay. It's your funeral."
Ducks appeared again. I heard a "pew" then a "quack!" So, Corey must've gotten a duck. I aimed to shoot one, but it fell before I pulled the trigger. I glanced over at Corey. He had a sly little grin. "So, he stole your duck! Guess you'll just have to get him back!" I smiled in my head, then aimed at Corey's side of the screen. . . .
"Hey!" A blue duck fell. They were worth more than the brown ones.
I chuckled. When the game was done, it showed us our scores. Corey had won. He laughed.
"It's only 'cause you kept stealing my ducks!" I pointed at him. "Best two outta three!" We were both pretty competitive, so him cheating was NOT okay.
"Nope!" He threw his gun down.
"What? Yes! That wasn't fair! You cheated!"
He crinkled his nose. "I did not!"
"Did too!"
"Not true!"
"Says you!"
"Oh boo hoo! Besides, no one said you need to stick to one side of the screen. I wanna end my gaming on a win."
I glared at him for a little bit, my competitive side seething with anger and protest. After I calmed down, I rolled my eyes. "Okay." I got up.
"Woah, woah. Where are you going? We can work this out, babe."
I chuckled. "I'm just getting some drawing stuff, calm down."
He sat back in his chair. "Well hurry. I'll be playing Mario."
"Okay." I went to my room to get drawing stuff. When I came back down, a certain little twerp was in my chair.
"All right! Ha ha! I never knew you were so good at this game!" And another little twerp was in HIS chair.
"Corey! Stop bouncing around! You're messing me up!" A Luigi was on the screen, bouncing on turtles and getting powers. Mario was just bouncing up and down, going in no particular direction. The Luigi got hit and died. "Aww thanks Corey! You killed me!"
"Sorry, buddy. Okay, I'll take the game seriously."
"Okay." Luigi came back on the screen. This time Mario was jumping on bad guys and getting powers. I leaned on the doorframe, watching my little brother and Corey beat the castle, getting closer to saving Princess Peach, who for the life of her could never stay out of trouble. I started to sketch. I made our white leather chairs and the t.v, then the two boys sitting in those chairs. My boyfriend and my brother. "Nice that they're getting along so well." I looked at my sketch. I was young, so it didn't look as good as other people's, but it wasn't bad.
"Alright!"
"Yeah!"
I heard the two boys say, then high five. They had made it to the next level and had gotten something special because of it.
"Corey?" I asked.
"Yeah?"
"I'll be upstairs when you're done."
"Okay. I'll come right now."
I was going to say he could finish the game, but Aaron beat me to it. "Stay, Corey! Please? Anna said when you're done! Plus I've never had a partner for this game."
I furrowed my brows. "I've played with you before."
Aaron looked at me. "Yeah, but I meant a GOOD partner!" He smiled, knowing what would happen next. Corey laughed.
"Hey! You're next, mister! Right after I take care of this little crap!" I went up to Aaron and tickled him.
"No! Ha ha! Anna! Stop, PLEASE!" Aaron tried to fight me, but I was too strong.
"I'll save you, little buddy!" I felt Corey's weight go onto my back, which made me fall. "Run Aaron! Run!" I heard Aaron obey Corey and run away.
"You're gonna get it now, mister!" I squirmed, but with Corey on my back, I was stuck like turtle on its shell. When I stopped struggling, he let go. I got up. "Just wait." He got up.
"Phew! For a second I thought you were gonna-" I pounced on him and tickled him.
"Ah ha ha ha! No! Aaron!"
"Aaron's not gonna save you!"
"Ha ha ha! Aaron help!" Corey shouted.
"He can't hear you! Give it up!"
"Aaron! Ah!"
I felt a push. Aaron really HAD come! Everything was just a blur of limbs and faces until. . . .
"I'll hold her down, and you tickle her, okay?"
"Okay!"
Uh oh. I felt two hands clasp around my wrists, and a body sit on my hips. Then I felt some fingers start to poke my sides. I tried to squirm away, but I couldn't. I felt a jab on my right side, so I tried to move to the left.
"Aaron! No!"
Aaron laughed and continued poking me. I wasn't going to get through to Aaron, so. . . .
"Corey, let me go."
"No can do, babe. Sorry."
Aaron was tickling me now. "Ha ha! Corey Ian Haim! Let me go right now!"
For a second, Corey froze, but it wasn't enough to get any advantage of. He smiled. "Sorry, baby. But this is the way it's gotta be. Tickle her more, Aaron!"
Aaron tickled faster. I squirmed and squirmed, but not enough to get pity, apparently. I laughed and laughed, probably sounding like a crazy person. After what seemed like hours, they finally let me go. My sides hurt from all the tickling and I was out of breath. Aaron ran back up stairs. Corey grabbed my hands and pulled me close.
"Looks like we have some alone time. . . ."
