"Ms. Shay! Are you listening?!" I snapped out of my daze and looked at my teacher. "I'm sorry... What was the question?" Mrs. Bersinsky rolled her eyes. "Detention." She said. My classmates snickered around me. Ugh. Not again. Hi, my name is Autumn Shay and I am 14 years old. This is usually what happens during school. I get called out for daydreaming, get laughed at, and on occasion, I may even get a detention. This is my life story. I know you probably couldn't care less... But I hope you stick around. You might surprise yourself.
After that class was over I had lunch. My favorite, and least favorite part of the day. It's my favorite because I get food, it's my least favorite because, well, I'm always by myself. I have no friends. And it's not like you people saying "Oh, I have no friends." While standing next to your hoard of them. I low key have not one friend. I walked through the hall when all of a sudden the famous and popular Max and Harvey Mills walk right into me, almost knocking me over. Ugh! I know I'm invisible, but you could at least apologize! Max and Harvey are worshiped at my school. They've probably talked to everyone... except me. Not that I care honestly. But the deepest and darkest part of me, and frankly, the part that I hate, secretly wants them to notice me and talk to me. That part of me has some severe mental issues.
Meet the Mills twins. They are singers and actors. They have formed joint accounts on Musical.ly, Shimmur, Instagram, Facebook, YouNow, Twitter, and YouTube. The only ones I really follow are their Musical.ly and YouTube. But sometimes if I get bored, I'll watch a YouNow. They're incredibly famous and incredibly talented. Unlike some of the teenage singers these days, these kids can sing.
I walked into the cafeteria grabbed my food and went to sit down at my usual table. But when I got there, there was a girl. She had pretty redish orange hair that was in a messy french braid, brown eyes, and freckles all over her face. She was crying. I sat down and worked up the courage to ask if she was ok. "Hey, are you ok?" I asked her. I guess she didn't know I had sit down because she looked kind of startled. "Oh, yeah, it's just, my friends are jerks." She said while she tried smiling a weak smile. "Oh, I'm sorry." I said. "I can move if your friends are gonna come over." She said while getting up. "Oh no, you can stay." I said almost to quickly. She sat back down. "I'm Autumn." I said. "Wow, that's a super pretty name. I'm Zaye." She said. Zaye, she looked like a Zaye. I smiled. I noticed she had some of an American accent. "I couldn't help but notice your accent. Are you American?" She asked. I was surprised. I didn't know my accent sounded that American. I had been living here for a year after all. "Uh, yeah. I was born and raised in Seattle. I had to move when my my dad died so my mom could be closer to her parents." I explained. My dad died in a plane crash when I was twelve. He was on his way to a Music festival in New York. My mom was gonna go too, but she got the flu and decided to stay home. "Oh, I'm sorry." She said. "It's ok, you learn to live with it. Now about your accent?" I said. Turns out she was from Arizona. She had to leave because her parents got laid off and had to come stay with her grandparents who also live here. I really like this girl. Then a girl from 2 tables away stood up and yelled, "Zaye are you done being a crybaby yet?" The cafeteria went silent while everyone looked our way. I even seen Max, Harvey and the popular table look over at us. Zaye's face got red and she looked down at the table. "Leave her be, she's been a crybaby ever since her parents got fired back in Arizona." A boy said rather loudly. Zaye started crying, stood up, and ran out the cafeteria. Then the cafeteria became noisy again, like nothing had ever happened. I stood up and ran after her.
I looked everywhere. I decided to try the girls bathroom upstairs. I walked in and heard crying coming from one of the stalls. "Zaye? Are you in here? It's Autumn." I said. I heard a stall door open and Zaye walked out. She started sobbing. I went over and hugged her while she cried into my shoulder. "Don't listen to them, you're not a crybaby." I said. We broke the hug and sat down against a stall door. "Thanks, you're a lot nicer than those buttholes I call friends." She said laughing a little bit. That made me smile. "Hey, how about I give you my number so if you ever want to talk or hangout, you can just hit me up." She smiled at that idea and handed me her phone. We finished and heard the bell ring so we stood up and walked out of the bathroom and made our way to our classes. I think I've made a new friend. *Smiles uncontrollably*
