Chapter 16

Harvey really likes me back. Soon enough he came back in the room with the doctor and a smiling Max.

"Autumn!" He said. I sat up so he could hug me.

"Hi Max." I said. I looked at Harvey. He wasn't smiling.

"Max, can I talk to you?" I asked.

"Sure, Harvey, can you give us a minute?"

"Yeah." And he walked out.

"Max, I know you're not going to want to hear this, but I'm breaking up with you." I said.

His faced dropped and I felt bad. But I don't want to lie to him anymore.

"Why?" He asked sitting down on the edge of my hospital bed.

"The truth is, I only said yes, so I wouldn't hurt your feelings." I said.

"Oh."

"You're an amazing guy, and you'll find someone that really loves you." I said.

"Ok, thanks for telling me." Max said. He flashed a weak smile and walked out, and Harvey walked in.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"So."

"So."

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He spat. I was taken back.

"Uh, Harvey, I don't think I want to be in a relationship right now." I said laughing a bit.

"Oh, ok, it was worth a shot." He said smiling and he gave me a hug.

Then Gavin barged in the room.

"Autumn! I was told you died!" He yelled.

"Well, this guy gave me the kiss if life." I said laughing and pointing at Harvey.

He blushed and looked away.

"Oh, okay, so I'm not an only child?" He asked.

"Yes Gavin, you're not an only child." I said while he came in for a hug.

I think this is the happiest I've been since before my dad died.

"Well, we'll give you some space." Gavin said. Him a d Harvey started to walk out.

"Wait, Harvey!"

"Yeah?"

"Could you stay?"

"Of course." He said sitting down in a chair.

We sat in silence. But it wasn't an awkward silence, it was comfortable. And soon, I fell asleep.
