"Stop being a fucking pussy and suck it up. It was a year-long basic fuck. That's all it was. That's all you were. I never loved you. That's mental."

Laughter followed. The man sat in silence, eyes white. This was new. Excitement, or fear, or nervousness caused it, but not complete sadness and hurt and the feeling of betrayal.

He stood up and sang On Melancholy Hill in an ominous voice, filled with sadness, and it was haunting. It sent shivers down Murdoc's spine. "All a lie - it's all a lie. These lyrics are a lie," Stuart scoffed, tearing up a piece of paper with song lyrics. Lyrics in Murdoc's handwriting, the official lyrics to On Melancholy Hill. There was visible anger on his face, but 2D didn't care.

"None of it means anything. You can't trust a liar, can you?" he mumbled to himself, continuing to destroy song lyrics. Official lyrics to songs like Broken, Rhinestone Eyes, Empire Ants, To Binge, Stylo, Some Kind Of Nature, Plastic Beach and Pirate Jet were destroyed in a matter of seconds. The songs had already been recorded, so it made no sense to destroy them.

"What the hell are you doing?" Murdoc screamed and 2D glared at him. "Destroying lies," he said, grinning when there were tiny scraps of paper covering the ground around him. Murdoc walked up to him and slapped him in the face, knocking the singer to the ground. It was more of a punch, enough to break the skin on his face and blood to drip down. "You fucking idiot. Get down there."

Murdoc pointed to the lift and watched as 2D crawled to it, getting in and pushing the button marked Basement. The doors closed only a bit before Murdoc stuck his boot in. "Don't you dare do anything stupid," he hissed and threw an instrument in. A banjo.

Strings were plucked for hours, maybe even days. There was no telling. Food had been brought, but it hadn't been touched. Cyborg Noodle paid no attention to the full plates; her only job was to bring plates of food down and take old plates back up. She didn't notice that no food had been eaten. She only noticed that 2D hadn't moved and that the same thing was being played: one, two, one, two, three, two, three, four, one, two, four, two.

~time skip~

Later that night, Cyborg felt it was urgent that she speak to Murdoc.

"Master, I don't think he's well," she said, gesturing towards 2D. "What do you mean? Of course he's well," Murdoc said, laughing. "Now, take this to him." Murdoc handed her a plate with food on it. She nodded. "Yes, sir," she said and went down to the basement. There was no banjo playing, just silence except for the sound of breathing. At least he was still alive.

Cyborg set the full plate down and took another full plate with her. 2D stared at the food. It didn't look appetizing. Then again, he wouldn't know what appetizing meant, or what an appetite was; he hadn't eaten in days.

He began to sing, a haunting tone that got louder, his voice filled with utter despair. He felt weak, and the only way he'd be able to feel less weak was through singing. He felt like he wasn't good enough. He wondered who would care if he died. Would anyone care?

He heard a sound and screamed, fearing that it was the damn whale coming to eat him.

Wrong.

It happened too fast - the whale slammed into the side, causing the entire island to shake. It caused the porthole window to crack and 2D's eyes widened in fear. What if it broke? He'd drown and nobody would know. He didn't attempt to leave in case Murdoc hit him.

Murdoc was pacing, wondering what to do and not even worrying about 2D at the moment. 2D was also pacing, but he was chewing on his nails. Water had began leaking in and dripping onto the bed. "I don't wanna die," he whispered, sitting on the floor in a corner with his back to the wall, watching as more water made its way into the room.

He didn't know if it would stop; probably not, as the ocean is filled with water. Murdoc wouldn't help him, neither would Cyborg. Another hit made the crack in the glass grow, causing water to basically spill into the room. 2D squeaked in fear, watching as the water drenched the bed and made its way onto the floor. Soon, the entire floor had inches of water covering it.

The water eventually seeped into the lift and made it spark, due to it somehow running entirely on electricity. 2D got on the table and bent his knees to his chest, wrapping his arms around them. "I a-ain't happy, I'm feeling g-glad. I got sun-sunshine, in a bag. I'm useless, but n-not for long. The future, is coming on," he sang, shaking, then he began to cry. His tears fell as quickly as the room filled up with water.

He wouldn't get to tell anyone goodbye. He'd never see his parents, or Russel, or Noodle again. He would die like this. He'd drown, and Murdoc wouldn't know. Nobody would know until it was too late.

Eventually, the water got high enough to reach the top of the table, and was still rising. 2D cried harder, his sobs shaking his entire body. He could hear circuits crackling and electricity buzzing. That meant that the power could go out. He saw a red light above the lift, meaning that someone would be coming down, but it went out. That wasn't a good sign.

There was a scream of frustration. "Cyborg, FIX IT!" Murdoc yelled, but Cyborg shook her head. "I cannot fix it, sir. The power's gone down there," she said and Murdoc froze. Realization hit and he began pushing buttons in an attempt to reach the singer. "It's all that damn WHALE'S fault!" he yelled, banging his fists on the metal door.

He heard a scream of terror coming from the basement. 2D was absolutely terrified. The water had covered his legs, leaving only his top half dry. 2D screamed again and he remembered watching Titanic. Water fills spaces up fast, and this was no different. He accepted that he would die here, held captive like a prisoner.

Water soon made it's way up to where Murdoc and Cyborg Noodle were, but Murdoc put up a barrier so that no more could come in. "He's going to drown, you know," Cyborg said solemnly and Murdoc frowned. "Because of that whale. You should never trust a whale to keep watch. They're stu-" he started to say, but was cut off by electrical sounds and another scream.

The water was up to 2D's chest by now. He looked for something to break the window so he could escape this death trap, but had no luck.

The water reached his chin and he closed his eyes, letting fate take its course. Murdoc, meanwhile, kept pacing. Eyes that were once dry now had tears dripping out of them. "He's probably already dead and it's all my fault. All my fault for keeping him down there," he said, watching the door.

There were no longer any screams, just an eerie silence albeit zapping of electricity.

Water had filled the entire room, causing 2D to drown since there was no way out. But, he'd went with a positive attitude towards Murdoc and didn't really blame him.

Days later, though, Murdoc was able to fix the porthole and remove the water, recovering the, dare it be said, dead singer. Everything in the entire room was ruined and it smelled of death and sea water.

Plastic Beach was released to the public and Murdoc retired, never forgetting about his singer.
