KATSUMI POV
"You have 69 missed calls from: Mizu-Mizu-chan"
"Where the hell are you?? Call me back, you're missing the museum."
"Boy, I swear on the hand of God answer your phone!"
"Are you whoring around again?"
"You whore, are you sleeping with a middle aged man again?"
"I got Ume to track your phone. You're still at the hotel. Where are you? Did you run off with some poor bastard? Or some poor broad? Don't get pregnant, I guess..."
"I miss you... please call back..."
"I'm really worried, please be okay. I know it's only been a day, but I hope you're okay. Please don't be dead."
"Okay, I'll leave you alone now. Just remember...Ume and I and even Suki all love you. We may tease you and call you a slut to your face but we do care about you. You are not some whore. I love you, brosef. Get back to me when you can. Bye."
I didn't listen to the rest of the messages. I was really missing my friends. I always talk to them everyday. I wish I could at least tell them I'm alright. Well, I'm not really-mentally- but physically I'm okay.
"Hey, Kanako?"
She looked up from her book, "yes, Sumi?"
"I wanna go home. Well, I wanna be with my friends. I miss them. I know it hasn't been long, but we're really close.:."
She sighed and gave me a hug as tears formed in my eyes.
"What did I do to deserve this? What god did I piss off to wind up getting sold in a black market auction? I want my mom. What if I never see her again? What if I-"
She cut me off with a kiss on my forehead, "it'll be okay. Baba is really kind, and he cares about people. Ota isn't too bad, neither is Mamoru. Soryu is a teddy bear, but don't tell him I told you. Eisuke is... well, you get used to him. And you have me."
I looked up at her and stopped crying as she held me tighter.
I hugged her back and went back to crying, still thinking about my friends and mother.
"Hey,you wanna know a secret?"
I nodded, curious.
"You ever think about how I got this job with Soryu while I'm only 20?"
I nodded once more.
"Baba and a his girlfriend found me on the streets as a small child. I was starving and dirty. I had no home, no parents, and no family. But they saved me. They treated me like their own daughter. That is, until Yui left without a trace for some reason. You know, you have her eyes. And her smile. Anyways, after she left, I went with a nice family in west Tokyo. When I graduated high school, I tracked down the gang and asked Soryu for a job. And he gave me one. Also, I kinda lied about my age. I'm 24. "
"Wait... Yui?"
"That was her name. Yui Kobayashi. But seriously? That's all you got from that story?"
"No, no. My mom. Her name is Yui Kobayashi. She met my dad at the Tres Spades Hotel and Casino. I've never met him because my mom left before I was born."
Suddenly, everything started clicking in both our heads.
We looked at each other.
"Oh."
"OH."
...
YUI POV
"So let me get this straight, you bought our daughter at the auctions, and you just left her with one of Soryu's subordinates?!"
"Well, I left her with Kanako."
"Aw, our Kanako?"
He nodded.
"How is she? Has she been eating her veggies? Why is she working for Soryu?"
"She's good. No, she still hates them. And I tell you later."
I sighed.
"You know, we raised Kanako for a bit. Why did you leave when I've proven I can care for a child?"
"Because of all the times she's gotten kidnapped."
"Oh."
"I wanted to take Kanako, I couldn't leave you with nobody."
"Actually..."
...
"You just gave her away to a grocery store owner in West Tokyo. I'm not even mad. That's way better for a child."
"Yui, will you please come back to the Tres Spades with me?"
I groaned, then remembered my daughter.
"Oh you better freaking take me there."
