ELISABETH POV
It was well in to the midnight hour by the time I had reached the Tres Spades, and honestly I wasn't tired in the slightest.
I had decided to make my way Tokyo several days before Uncle Eisuke's set return date as a means of taking care of some... personal business before getting reacquainted with the family and being thrust in to the world of the auctions again, and by the looks of things it would appear I'd had the right idea.
"Isao, you're telling me that Uncle Eisuke not only has illegitimate children he had zero knowledge of, but they're here and staying on our floor?"
Isao, who was holding a sleeping Nanako in his arms on the sofa, nodded.
"... Bloody hell, I didn't even need to come early. What I was looking for is already here. And I had so looked forward to the grand search..."
My cousin (for all intents and purposes) widened his eyes, "You know Eito and Kurumi?"
I flipped back my straw-colored curls and waved my hand, "Well, technically I knew that they–well, one of them existed. So Kurumi is her name..."
He pinched the bridge of well well defined nose, "And how, may I ask, did you find out about her specifically before the rest of us?"
"Oh I met her several years ago on my last trip. She was being threatened in an alleyway, so, naturally, I intervened and took care of the... Pest problem. I took her home and bid her goodnight. I've been insanely in love with her ever since."
Had it not been for his sleeping darling Isao would have groaned louder than he already was,"lesbians..." he muttered in exasperation.
"Wait," his grey eyes narrowed ever so slightly, "how did you know she was Eisuke's? Why didn't you say anything to anyone? You usually at least try and tell me everything."
I crossed my legs and leaned back in to the pricey recliner, "To answer your first question, oh favored cousin of mine, it was quite simple, really. Her bone structure."
"Fuckin' should have seen that one coming..."
"And in regards to the latter... Well, I didn't see it as any of my business."
He reached up to his face and took his glasses off to set them on the nearby end table, "Yeah this is too fucking weird for me to deal with right now. It's one in the morning. I have shit to deal with tomorrow. Toss me that blanket, please."
I obliged and threw in an extra pillow from the cupboards as well, "Sweet dreams, Isao. Shall I shut the lights on my way out?"
"Please and if you could lock the deadbolts I would really appreciate it. We can talk tomorrow if you're interested."
I smiled gently at him, "Of course. We still have to go to Meguro together."
"You do love Meguro... Anyway, goodnight Bethie." my demure smile became a grin as he used his special name for me. My closest confidant, the only one beside my father allowed to call me any nickname other than Lisa.
"I love you, Icy."
He chuckled, "Love you too."
I headed out, my luggage already having been brought up to my room, and decided to head up to see my other uncles. No matter how old they got even at nearly two on the morning I knew they would be up in the penthouse longue playing poker.
I wonder if they'll finally let me play with them while I wait.
