"From the basement, you can see the people who are in the pool," Y/N said after showing Lauren their last destination, the backyard, where a massive infinity pool was located. "I can't show you the sanctuary tonight because Azrael doesn't like being disturbed in his sleep."

"Who's Azrael?" Lauren asked, her eyes still glued on the view in front of her.

The lights of the pool were on, illuminating the water and reflecting it on Lauren's green eyes, making them brighter and full of life. From where she stood, she could also see the lights from the city and her heart felt complete just by looking at it. It was telling her to stay and admire the city lights forever.

"A huge friend," Y/N told her, hands in her pocket as she stood beside Lauren. She tried to see through Lauren's eyes for a moment, willing herself to be in the girl's reality and to understand how her mind worked. She couldn't. "How can you not believe in magic when these lights in front of you are a huge proof?"

"Who told you I don't?" Lauren smiled at her choice of topic, not bothering to push her further about who the hell Azrael was. It could be another housekeeper.

"You," Y/N retorted quickly. "A few days back you were here in my house, begging for the truth and when I told you, you didn't believe me and said that you didn't think that whatever I told you was real. You hurt me."

Lauren frowned upon the recollection of what Y/N was talking about, the guilt building up inside her at how hurt Y/N looked. "Because I haven't learned it yet. Give me time."

"I gave you years, Jauregui, and you still don't believe in it. How long do I have to give you?"

Lauren finally turned to look fully at Y/N, giving her a small smirk. "Why do you keep insisting?"

"Because it would make your life easier and you need to see the real beauty of the world."

"I already know that the world is beautiful and I like the way how my life is at this point," Lauren told her. "I might not need your magic but I know it's there. That should be enough."

Y/N stared at her for a moment, memorizing the colors of Lauren's eyes and tracing the outline of her lips with her mind next. She also noticed the freckles on her nose, like stars in the sky or the spots on the moon. Her eyes shined bright with the help of the pool light, making Y/N feel like she was looking at a gentle sun instead of her emerald eyes.

Y/N understood now. "The reason why you don't believe in magic is because you have it in you. You're already magic and you don't even know it."

Just by her words, Lauren's breath hitched on the back of her throat. She didn't know if it was because of what she said or the minty scent as she spoke but Lauren found herself leaning upwards and catching the billionaire's mouth as her hand reached up to Y/N's nape for her to have a leverage.

Y/N's felt this pair of lips before but something tonight made it different. Maybe Lauren's lips felt softer? More pleasant to kiss because of the flavor from what they ate? Was it the ambiance of the night?

Why was Lauren's lips more addictive now?

Y/N couldn't shun the urge to deepen the kiss at the feeling, her hands running up from Lauren's waist until she reached the girl's jaw before cupping it. She swiped her tongue across the smooth flesh of her lips, easily gaining access whilst Lauren's squeezed her neck for a moment, her fingertips grazing the metal of her dog tag. Their tongues met in a searing battle until Lauren was sucking on Y/N's tongue, savoring its taste before pulling away to catch her breath.

"Let's take this upstairs," Y/N breathed out, her lips brushing against Lauren's.

Just as she was about to lift Lauren up, the green-eyed girl placed a firm hand on her chest, eyes concentrated on her lips as she smiled sheepishly. "I haven't done my homework yet."
