Chapter 19

JESS’S POV

School went by pretty fast, I genuinely enjoyed it. I didn’t get lost and I had at least one person in each class, James had introduced me to his friend Cassie, she and I shared almost all of the same subjects.  It was weird, I had moved from an all girls school to a co-ed school. There was guys who were randomly introducing themselves to me, I thought it was really weird, because I never thought I was very pretty, Jai was my first boyfriend, but I wasn’t going to share that with him anytime soon. Cassie and James walked home with Jai, Luke and I. They turned off quite early, we said our goodbyes, they were both going to be at Skip’s party tomorrow, I was happy because that way I’d know a few more people. We walked to the Brooks’ house; the boys chucked their school bags inside and continued walking home with me. ‘Are you guys doing anything tonight?’ I asked as we reached my front door.

‘No,’ Jai answered, ‘Why?’

‘Well I want to sign up to the gym, and I thought I may as well get a workout out of it while I’m at it, I was wondering if you wanted to come.’

‘Yeah, sounds good. We’ll meet you there in an hour?’ Luke asked.

‘Yep, see you then,’ I said waving. I closed the door; I put my bag in my room and unpacked more boxes. I found singlet and some shorts, I put them on searched for socks. It took a minute or two, but I found them. I had unpacked all of my shoes yesterday, so I knew exactly where my runners were. It had been 45 minutes after no time, so I grabbed my wallet, phone, a towel, my keys and a drink bottle. It was only a ten minute walk; I got to the gym and signed up. I put my membership into my wallet and put my stuff in a locker. I turned around to see Jai, Beau and Luke walking through the door. I waved and they walked over, putting their stuff in lockers too. ‘Hey, guys,’ I said smiling, ‘Luke you still up for being my gym buddy?’ I asked. Luke was like my best friend, he was never going to be anything more, and he felt the same way about me. ‘If that’s not weird for Jai,’ Luke commented.

‘Why would it be weird? Jai asked picking up his drink bottle and taking a sip.

‘That’s a yes then,’ Luke said. ‘So where are we going to start?’ Luke asked as we looked around the busy gym.

‘There are two free treadmills,’ I said pointing to the back wall of the gym.

‘Let’s go,’ said Luke as we walked towards them.

Luke and I worked out for an hour, I really enjoyed it, it gave Luke and I plenty of time to chat. We were ready to go now, and so were Jai and Beau. ‘Do you want a lift home Jess?’ Beau asked grabbing his keys and phone out of a locker, ‘Yeah if you don’t mind,’ I replied.

‘It’s no trouble at all,’ Beau said as we walked to the car. The boys said goodbye as I hopped out the car, ‘Thanks for the lift Beau,’

‘Anytime,’ Beau replied before I shut the door.

It was almost 6, I decided to cook dinner, I love to cook. We had some pasta, sauce and meat and that was about it. So pasta it is I thought to myself, getting everything out.

‘Something smells good,’ Dad said walking into the kitchen.

‘Hey dad,’ I said giving him a big hug.

‘Hey kiddo how was your first day at school?’ Dad asked as I returned to the pasta.

‘Really good,’ I said smiling, ‘Jai introduced me to some people in my year, I have at least one friend in each class.’ I replied smiling, remembering what a good day I’d had. ‘So you worried for nothing?’ dad asked with a chuckle.

‘Yes,’ I replied. ‘Give me 10 minutes then it’ll be ready.’ I said looking at dad.

‘Well I’m gonna hook up the TV,’ he yelled from the living room. Yes! I thought to myself, dad and I share a love for “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”  And that was on tonight. After eating dinner, dad did the dishes. We watched the TV before heading off to bed.

-The next day-

I got dressed after having a shower and putting up my hair, Ash was meeting me and Jai and Luke in the city. Today was Skip’s birthday and we were going shopping for a present, last minute I know but we’d been really busy beforehand. I walked to the train station with the twins we paid our fare as jumped on the train. ‘I told Ash we’d meet her at Melbourne Central is that okay?’ I asked.

‘Yeah that’s cool,’ Jai answered. We stood up and headed to the doors, we walked to the food court and I spotted Ash. I ran up to her and gave her the biggest hug. ‘Hey cutie!’ I said.

‘Hey Jess,’ She said smiling.

I turned around to see that Jai and Luke had been mobbed by a group of fans. I texted Jai, ‘We’re going to buy some clothes for ourselves; we’ll meet you in Myer.’ With that Ash and I walked to Myer.
