Chapter 29

JESS’S POV

It was now the 13th of December; it had been about a month and a half since the accident, yesterday the doctor finally gave me the okay to go back to school, I will only get the chance to go for 3 days before we finish for the year, but it’ll still be nice to go. So here I am, fixing my hair and putting on my uniform so I can go to school. Beau is going to pick me up and take me and the twins to school, dad was cool with it. Beau picked me up at 8ish so I could spend some time with the boys before we left for school. We just mucked around on the computer, and then at 8:30 we got in the car and headed to school. Jai carried my bag for me; we slowly made our way up to my locker. I was nervous and embarrassed; I had no idea how the day was going to go. Jai helped me put all of my stuff in my locker then headed off. ‘Jess,’ Cassie said running over to give me a hug. ‘Hey Cassie, missed you heaps!’ I said as she looked at my back brace and frame.

‘Yeah everything has been so boring without you!’ She said with a laugh. ‘Hand me your books and we’ll go to class.’ I handed Cassie my books and we headed off to class. ‘So how are you doing?’ She asked as we walked into the classroom. ‘Pretty good, I’m getting there,’ I said with a smile as we took a seat in the middle of the room. I could tell that all eyes were on me. James walked through the door, I waved and he took a seat next to me. ‘Hey,’ he said with a friendly grin. ‘Good to be back?’ He asked.

‘Yeah, I’m glad to be back. But everyone starring is kind of annoying, but I can deal with it.’ I answered as the teacher walked in; she glanced around the room before looking at me. ‘Jess,’ she exclaimed, ‘It’s great to have you back,’ she said with a warm smile. ‘Thanks,’ I smiled; I relaxed a little and got to work.

James gave me a hand to get to my next class. We sat down at the back at the room, ‘thanks so much for helping me out James,’ I said as he put my stuff down on the desk.

‘No problems Jess,’ James replied with a smile. The teacher walked in, I got pretty much the same reaction as in period 1. It occurred to me that this was going to happen all day, great.

Before no time school was over, Beau had work so dad picked us up. He dropped the three of us at Jai & Luke’s house and he headed back to work. The twins were pretty much done for the year but I still had a fair bit of homework to do, especially considering that I hadn’t been at school for like 6 weeks. The twins just went on their laptops; we all sat in their room.

At 6:30 dad came and picked me up, we went home and had dinner. Over dinner we discussed our days, I honestly had a good day at school, I liked it better than staying at home by myself. Dad said that he was doing really well at work and he was enjoying his job, we were doing well in my opinion.

I went to bed after we spent some time watching TV; I had Physical Therapy again tomorrow so I wanted to get plenty of rest.

-The next day-

JAI’S POV

Beau went and picked up Jess again today. When she got here I we watched some TV and just chatted. We left for school at 8:30 like we did whenever we didn’t have to walk. Beau gave us a lift, he promised to until Jess was better, it made her smile when he said that.

When we got to school there was still a few people that starred at Jess again, it annoyed me. What did it matter? Luke and I glared at a few people, Jess noticed, ‘I don’t care, stop it. It’s not my problem it’s theirs.’ Jess said as we reached her locker. ‘I know,’ I replied, ‘it just annoys me that is all.’ Luke nodded in agreement.

We left for class once James showed up, because Jess can’t carry her books and stuff. I said a friendly hello to James before going off to class. I don’t know why but today my classes seemed to drag on forever, I was so relieved when the bell rang to end period 2. I spent break with Jess before heading back to class, I was heading home at lunch to study because I had all spares after lunch, so Luke would come home with Jess.

I got heaps of work done at home, I was really happy I decided to come home to study. In no time Jess and Luke got home, I grabbed my phone and some headphones and went home with Jess.

When we got to her place she got changed then we jumped in her dad’s car and we drove to the hospital for another Physical Therapy session. Jess did really well today; the doctor said she should be able to get rid of the frame in the next few weeks. Jess was really excited because this would mean she would be able to do just about everything by herself.

Jess mentioned that she was a bit hungry so her dad let us stop and buy some ice cream. We went to Cold Rock it was really good, we sat down and finished our ice creams before heading home. Joel dropped me home, I said goodbye and went inside. ‘How did she go?’ Luke asked as I took a seat in the living room.

‘Pretty good,’ I replied getting out my phone. ‘The doctor said she’ll be able to get rid of the frame in a week or so.’ I continued. ‘Oh that’s so awesome,’ Luke replied turning on the TV. ‘How is she doing?’ Luke asked looking for something to watch. ‘Good I think,’ I replied, ‘you can never quite tell with Jess.’ Luke nodded, we settled on watching Two and a Half Men. Beau got home at 7 and we decided we should probably start making dinner because mum would be home from work soon; we got started and ended up making pasta.

Mum was really impressed when she got home; we sat down and ate dinner together and just chatted. After dinner Luke and I got onto our laptops and got onto Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook to try and answer and talk to as many fans as we could. There’s always so much to get through. We didn’t head off to our room until about 10 then we spent a little more time online before going to bed.
