Chapter 38

JESS’S POV

I woke up and opened my eyes to see Jai; he smiled when he saw me wake up. He had his arms wrapped around me, ‘morning beautiful,’ Jai said pulling me closer before planting a kiss on my forehead. I played with his hair a bit, it was curly, I liked it better than when he straightens it. But he doesn’t seem to do that very often anymore. Everyone was still asleep; Jai and I lied in silence, just enjoying each other’s company.

After another 15 minutes everyone else began to stir. Beau, Daniel and James were sitting on the couch, Beau grabbed the TV remote and switched it on. ‘No!’ Luke groaned as the TV started up, Beau put it on SpongeBob; I can’t believe how immature these boys are! Jai grabbed my back brace, he helped me put it on and we sat watching the TV like everyone else, well except Luke. Luke had a pillow over his head and he continued to groan, we all couldn’t help but laugh. I got up and made my way to the kitchen; Gina was already up and busily making breakfast. ‘How can I help Gina?’ I asked standing at the kitchen door. ‘Getting out sauces, drinks and setting the table.’ I nodded and got into action laying everything onto the table, as neatly as I could. After a few minutes Gina was finished, she had done so well she had made: hash browns, eggs, bacon, pancakes and French toast. ‘Wow Gina!’ I said looking at all of the food spread across the bench. ‘It all looks amazing!’ I continued. ‘Come get breakfast!’ I yelled to the others who were still in the living room. I heard everyone run to the kitchen, ‘Yum!’ They said grabbing plates and serving up breakfast. Everyone grabbed a chair and we sat around the kitchen, all of the boys went back for seconds.

Amy is heading back home today; I was really glad she came and stayed with me. I missed Amy so much she was my friend. After breakfast we got changed and made plans for the day.

LUKE’S POV

I walked into the living room to find Amy sitting alone in the living room; I walked over and sat next to her. ‘So you’re heading back home today?’ I asked Amy, she nodded with a weak smile. It’s now or never Luke, I thought to myself. ‘Do you want to go on a date with me?’ I asked, it seemed like hours before Amy replied.

‘Yes!’ She replied with her usual beautiful smile.

‘Awesome,’ I replied giving her a hug. ‘Let’s go!’ I said jumping up off the couch.

‘Okay, I just need to say goodbye to Jess,’ Amy said wondering through the house to find Jess. I walked into find Jai sitting on his bed. I beamed a smile at him, ‘what’s she done?’ Jai asked with a laugh, I could tell he was referring to Amy. ‘We’re going on a date,’ I said with a smile. Jai whistled at me, ‘shut up!’ I said punching his arm. He rubbed the spot where I had hit him; I may have hit him a little hard. ‘So where are you going?’ Jai asked, being serious now.

‘Going to go on a picnic,’ I said picking up my bag and packing some things. I ran to the kitchen and started packing food, Amy walked into the kitchen, ‘I’m ready to go.’ She smiled; I finished grabbing a few more things before closing the pantry. ‘Let’s go,’ I said grabbing her hand and heading for the door.

JESS’S POV

I walked into Jai’s room to see him along with James and Skip in deep in conversation. ‘So what’s the plan for today boys?’ I asked sitting at their desk.

‘We were actually planning a boy’s day,’ Skip piped up. James hit him and Skip fell silent.

‘It’s okay,’ I smiled, ‘I have someone I need to see anyway.’ I said walking out of Jai’s room and grabbing out my phone. ‘Jess are you okay?’ Jai asked pulling me back.

 ‘Yes, I was serious when I said there is someone I need to catch up with,’ I replied.

‘Oh,’ Jai said, he seemed a little taken back.

‘But thank you for thinking of me, have fun,’ I smiled before giving him a kiss. I picked up my phone and dialled her number. ‘Hello?’ A familiar voice answered.

‘Hey Ash, are you free today?’ I asked, hopeful that we could spend the day together.

‘No sorry I’ve got to go,’ and with that Ashleigh hung up the phone. That was weird I thought to myself, even if Ashleigh did have something on, she’d tell me what it was. We told each other everything, something was up I thought to myself before picking out my phone again.

I called Ash’s mum, I wasn’t dobbing on her. It just didn’t make sense to me, and it turns out I was right. Ashleigh wasn’t doing anything today, nothing at all! Something was up with Ash and I was going to get to the bottom of it. All the boys had left for the city but Beau; he was sitting in the living room, looking a little lonely to be honest. I cleared my throat and Beau turned around and smiled. ‘Hi Jess, I didn’t realise anyone was still here,’ I smiled and sat next to him.

‘Are you up for a drive?’ I asked Beau, he hesitated before nodding in reply.

‘Where are we going?’Beau asked grabbing his keys and phone.

‘Mornington,’ I replied following Beau to his car. We turned up the radio and sung really loud the entire way there, I waved to Beau; he bought his surfboard and headed down to the beach after dropping me off. I took a deep breath and knocked on her door.
