JESS’S POV

I woke up; I was lying in the living room. The events of the morning continued to replay in my head, I tried to escape the memories but I couldn’t. Jai walked into the living room, he was obviously checking on me. He smiled to see I was awake and sat next to me. He looked right into my eyes, how I loved his beautiful brown eyes. Jai frowned, looking deep into my eyes. ‘Are you okay?’ he asked, a concerned look took the place of his smile. I nodded and smiled weakly in response, Jai frowned at me and walked off. He returned quickly carrying my frame, I smiled and grabbed it off him and followed him to the kitchen. Beau, Amy and Luke were deep in conversation, they turned to me with smiles. Amy leapt up from her seat and gave me a hug, ‘I’m so sorry.’ She sighed into my shoulder, she released me and I took a seat at the table. Jai bought across some hash browns and an egg McMuffin. I smiled as Jai put the food in front of me; I looked around a little confused, because no one else was eating. ‘We ate a while ago,’ Luke said, I nodded and started eating. We had a little conversation over nothing in particular while I finished my breakfast. ‘So what do we want to do today?’ Beau asked rubbing his hands together. ‘I’m sorry but I don’t really feel like doing much today,’ I said frowning and looking down at my lap. ‘That’s okay’ Jai said throwing his arm around my shoulder. Beau looked a little disappointed, he didn’t get to spend any time with us because we had school and now it was school holidays and I was still keeping him away from everyone, but I couldn’t help it. Today I felt like utter rubbish, both inside and out. ‘Go,’ I said looking at Beau in particular, the four of them sat there starring at me. ‘Go, do something, have some fun.’ A cheeky grin spread across Beau’s face. ‘Are you sure?’ Luke asked, Amy nodded in agreement, I nodded.

‘I’ll stay with you,’ Jai said, ‘I can’t be bothered doing anything today.’ I smiled, Jai always thought of me first. Amy, Luke and Beau nodded before standing up and making their way to the door. ‘Bye,’ they waved, and the door shut behind them. Jai turned around and looked at me, sympathy filled his eyes. ‘So…’He began awkwardly, ‘what are you up for?’ I smiled and sat down on the couch. ‘I’m totally feeling a How I Met Your Mother marathon?’ I suggested as Jai sat on the couch. He smiled, ‘what seasons do you have?’ Jai asked making his way over to the DVD cabinet that stood next to the TV. ‘We’ve got 4, 5 and 6,’ I replied. Jai nodded and grabbed them out. He put a DVD in the player and sat on the couch next to me, ‘I thought we’d watch in order.’ Jai said shuffling closer, I couldn’t help but smile.

‘Thanks so much Jai,’ I said looking into his eyes. ‘I have no idea what I’d do without you,’ Jai smiled and leaned in to kiss me. Before I knew what I was doing I pulled away, the events of earlier still haunting me. Jai looked at me in shock; an awkward silence fell over us. I felt my face burn and I began to well up, I turned away from Jai and began to cry. ‘I’m sorry,’ I sobbed.

JAI’S POV

She pulled away, is she scared I’ll hurt her too? I threw my arm around Jess and pulled her closer; she turned around to look at me. Tears ran down her face and she sniffled a little, ‘I’m sorry,’ Jess sobbed. ‘Don’t ever apologise Jess, it’s not your fault,’ I said looking right into her eyes. She nodded, ‘I’m serious Jess, I love you. Don’t let me rush you into it again.’ I said grabbing her hand and intertwining our fingers, I used my free hand to wipe the stray tears from her cheeks. Jess smiled and mouthed ‘thank you’ to me before she snuggled into my chest and we started watching How I Met Your Mother.

After the season finished I got up and put season 5 in. ‘Are you still up for Physical Therapy?’ I asked Jess taking my place next to her. ‘Yes,’ she nodded, ‘that jerk isn’t going to mess with my recovery.’ She said firmly, I nodded.

‘Is your Dad coming back to take us?’ I asked as she rested her head on my shoulder.

‘Yeah after what happened today he cut his trip short, so he’ll be here to take us.’ I nodded and continued watching the TV.

JESS’S POV

It was the end of my Physical Therapy session; I can now easily walk without my frame, but the doctor still hadn’t told me when I could get rid of it, so I walked over to grab it. ‘What are you grabbing that for Jess?’ My doctor asked as I picked up my frame. Jai and I shared a quick glance, what was he talking about. ‘What?’ I asked, trying to figure out what he meant. ‘You don’t need that frame anymore Jess, you’re free!’ He said with a smile, I squealed a little, I was so excited! Jai ran over to me and gave me a hug. ‘I’m so proud of you Jess,’ he said as he released me, I couldn’t help but smile. ‘So we’re going to cut you back to an appointment every fortnight just to check on things.’ I nodded and smiled, that’s all I could do I was so happy to finally get rid of it. ‘Thank you for everything!’ I said as I made my way to the door, Jai followed me close behind. I walked into the waiting room; Dad was absolutely gobsmacked to see me walking on my own. He smiled and made his way over. ‘Look at you!’ He said giving me a hug. I waved goodbye to my doctor and made my way to Dad’s car.

I got Dad to drop Jai and I at his house; I thought it would be a bit of fun to surprise them. Dad even said I could stay the night, so we stopped at my house first so I could pack a bag. Once I had finished packing Jai walked over to grab it off me, it had become instinct to him. ‘I’ve got it,’ I smiled, it felt so good to be able to say that. I also grabbed Amy’s bag, I hopped Gina wouldn’t mind having the two of us tonight.

‘Oh sorry,’ Jai said breaking my thoughts.

‘Its fine,’ I smiled, ‘it’s nice to know you’ll always be there for me. ‘I think you should walk in holding both of the bags, so everyone thinks I’ve still got my frame, and then I’ll walk in behind you.’ Jai nodded with a cheeky grin, I couldn’t wait to see their faces.
