Chapter 39

Ana POV

I am having a hard time sleeping so I decide to take a walk outside to clear my head. The events over the last few days have kept me going to where I didn't have time to think. But now my mind won't shut down. I go to the backyard and just walk around the small flower garden there. It's so peaceful here, you can really appreciate the sky and stars. I take a deep breath and just enjoy the simplicity that life has to offer.

As I am in my own world, I hear one of the new security guards making rounds. "Ms Steele I received a message from Mr Grey and he needs you to return to Escala immediately. There has been an altercation and wants you to return". I look at this guard I think his name is Jenkins and feel suspicion. "Well alright then let me go get Sawyer and we will return". "No time ma'am. He wants you immediately". Now I know something isn't right. Sawyer is my CPO I know damn well Christian would never have me without him. "Alright then I will follow you to the car". He nods and precedes me. I stay a safe distance away and see he his getting nervous. "Ma'am please keep up" as he makes a grab for me. Now I know this is not right because no security, unless it's Taylor, can touch me without permission. I jerk away he moves to grab again and thankfully I remember my training. I let him grab my wrist and get close enough so I can flip him over using his own weight. He falls with a grunt and gets up. I crouch prepared to defend myself, he lunges for me I do an upper cut pulling him into a half Nelson. I use a great amount of pressure because his face is turning purple. He is clawing at my face and arms but my hold does not waver. He fights for a few more moments the he passes out. I wait for an extra few minutes to make sure it's real. I let him go and he falls to the ground. He is passes out. I run into the house and see Sawyer getting ready to make rounds. "Ms Steele what happened"? He sees my face and the fact I'm out of breath. "The new guard Jenkins tried to abduct me saying Christian called for me to return to Escala. I said we'd go after I got you and he refused. He grabbed me and I managed to put him down. Get him before he wakes up". Sawyer runs outside while making a phone call. I sigh I expect to see Christian tonight.

I go and sit down at the dining room table and just rest my head on my arms. What is so wonderful about me that people have to interrupt my life and ruin it? All I want is to be with my family and just live a quiet normal life. I do not need abductions and assaults on my person every other day. I mean who besides Jose and my mother want to hurt me? I continue to sit and ponder the difficulties of my life when dad comes down to the kitchen. "Annie what are you doing up"? I look up and dad gasps at me. "What happened"? "Apparently one of the new security guards wanted to abduct me and I fought back. So did he. Sawyer is taking care of him now". Dad walks over to the sink gets a paper towel and moistens it. "Let's just clean this up a bit, probably looks worse than it is". He gently cleans my face and arms. They sting a bit but I don't really notice the pain. "They don't need stitches probably scab over in a day or so". Dad sits by me and I lean over and rest my head on his shoulder. "When will my life me normal"? "I hope soon Annie, I truly hope so".

Taylor POV

I was finishing up for the night, it is about midnight and I receive a call from Sawyer. "Sawyer what happened"? "Taylor one of the new security is dirty. He tried to abduct Ms Steele just a little while ago. She went outside for a quiet walk and he came over and told her Mr Grey wanted her to return to Escala. She was willing to comply as long as I came with her. He refused stating Mr Grey wanted her immediately no time for me. She got suspicious and he grabbed her. We all know no touching Ms Steele unless absolutely necessary and preferably its you or Mr Grey. She played along and dropped him, he is currently unconscious, bound and restrained. Should I call the police or would Mr Grey prefer to handle this personally". "Hold him for now, take no action. Let me inform Mr Grey and I will contact you back. How is Ms Steele? Is she hurt"? "Not really just some scratches on her face and arms. Apparently she flipped him and choked him out. Don't know how she managed that being as pregnant as she is". "Sheer determination. Keep a watchful eye on the other security. I will sent Ryan and Grimmes over and more than likely myself and Mr Grey will be there as well". "OK I will wait to hear from you". I hang up with Sawyer and brace myself for talking to Mr Grey, this will not be a fun conversation. I walk to his office and knock on his door.
