Chapter 23

Yume's POV
I thought that it will just be a typical day, where I eat, study and sleep, nothing new...

Well, Teachers keep droning on and on about the lessons and it was just as boring as every other normal day. So it is only right to think that this day will just be an ordinary day... or so I thought...

~lunch time~
YuNa and I are sitting at BTS table, eating and chatting with them, when loud screams came from the hallway.

"What's the commotion?"Jin asks curiously. "Well, there's a new transfer student, and I have got to admit that he is really good looking."NamJoon said, as he emphasises on the last part of his sentence. "I bet I will still be more handsome."Jin said, flipping his hair back, which makes all of us burst into laughter, except for YoonGi who can't be bothered.

The doors of the cafeteria burst opened and screams drowned all the chattering in the cafeteria. A large crowd of girls are gathering around a tall guy, with only his head poking out from the sea of girls. 'Well...good luck in getting a time of peace for that guy in the middle.'I thought.

Just then, YoonGi stood up and banged the table loudly, and shouted on the top of his lungs,"Look, I don't care who that guy is, but please leave that poor guy alone! If you want to scream and create noises, get the hell out of this place! Shut up when I am still being nice here!" 'Wow....what niceness he has there...' He sat back down when he saw that the noises had died down.

The girls started going off, embarrassed. In the midst of the crowd, a hand shot up,"Whoever that guy who helped me! Thanks a lot! I owe you one!" The commotion died down as all the students knew better than to anger Min YoonGi.

"Guys, I will just go get some water. Will be back soon."I said, as I got up from my seat and walk off in the direction of the water dispenser. *Bump* "Oh mianhe...."Both of us said at the same time. "Sorry, I wasn't really looking at where I'm going."I apologise profusely. "Gwenchana...it's ok, I wasn't looking my way too....wait..Yume?"He asked. 'Wait...is this...'I thought as tears started brimming in my eyes.

"Yume, it's been a while.... bogoshipda."The voice that I have been yearning to hear after all these years, spoke softly. 'It can't be mistaken... this voice that I have missed...it is..'I look up and see a pair of beautiful dark orbs staring back into me,"HaJun oppa...." I whispered, as tears rolled down.

The next moment, I was pulled into his tight embrace. I heaved in his smell, the familiar scent lingering in my nostrils, reminding me that it is not my imagination. I can't be bothered that we are hugging in the middle of the cafeteria, with students staring at us, I hugged back tightly, clinging onto him as I leaned in deeper into his warm embrace that I missed terribly.

We pulled away from the hug, as he said,"I'm back, Yume.... I fulfilled our promise..." His smile is a small one, but he can't hide the fact that he is really happy, from my eyes.

The next thing we knew, HaJun oppa was pulled harshly away from me, "Kang HaJun! You punk! How could you just leave us hanging after all... all these years!"JeongHan oppa scolded as he tackled the poor guy to the ground, head locking him as the poor guy struggles to get free.

I can't stand this sight any longer and peeled the aggressive guy off the struggling guy. "Yah! JeongHan oppa! How can you treat HaJun oppa like this after he just returned!"I nagged as I pulled HaJun oppa up and dragged him with me to BTS table.

"Guys! This is Kang HaJun! My best best best childhood friend!"I chirped happily, unable to contain my excitement. "Wait! How about me?"YuNa pouted sadly. "You are both my 1st!" "But how come you never told me about him?" "Uhmm..."I mumble, not knowing what to say.

Flashback
"I am sorry Yume, I have to leave."HaJun oppa said, as he struggles to pull away from me.
"Andwae! Oppa, please don't leave me... please..."I pleaded as I clinched tightly onto him, desperately not letting him go.
"Yume, I have to go... I promise no matter how far we are apart, how many years have past...when I finally fight it, I will definitely come back and find you."He said softly, retracting from my grip and ran towards his parents.
"Oppa! Andwae!! Oppa..."I screamed as I tried following him, only to be pulled back by my parents. I called after him pathetically, hoping that he will turn back and walk back to me and say that it is just a joke.
But no, I can only watch helplessly as his figure faded and disappear into the crowd, tears falling onto the necklace that I clenched tightly in my hands, the gift he left me...
Flashback ends

"I was away for quite a number of years...so I think it makes sense that Yume doesn't bring me up."HaJun filled in as he held me close by my shoulders.

I smiled at him, as I pushed him to sit down on a seat beside me. The guys introduced themselves and we chatted, getting along quickly with each other.

I smiled as I thought,' Finally, he is back... staying here by my side... I am happy that he won the fight with his cancer. Seeing him healthy now is the best gift I can ever ask for...'

BTS POV
We are jealous of that HaJun guy, he takes all of Yume's attention, and he also seems to enjoy it. He is also really handsome, what if Yume likes him? Andwae! I can't let that happen.

Yume's POV
'I will take good care of HaJun oppa now, I don't want to see him lying on his bed, sick and tired but still puts on a smile to assure me that he is alright. I am no longer the naive girl I am last time, the one that never realises how cancer can just take your precious love ones away from you. I will do my best to keep any harm away from you, HaJun oppa and I won't mind if it means that I will have to sacrifice myself, I can't stand the pain of losing you again...

HaJun oppa, it is now time for me to be your guardian angel ....and let me protect you now and always...'
