One Year Later...

"Sam! Sam, let me put your pants on!" I was currently racing around the house, try to get a one year old Samuel in his dress pants for the Ball. That kid was fast! He ran and ran until he collided with Fae's legs, almost knocking her down.

"Whoa there, where are you going, young man?" She asked, picking him up. "Don't you want to put your pants on?"

"No!" He pouted, crossing his arms.

"That's fine; only big boys get to wear pants," she shrugged, putting him down and taking the pants from me, starting to walk away.

"Wait! Wait!" He yelled, running after her. "Big! Big! I am big!" She smiled and slipped on his pants, kissing his forehead.

"Yes, you are, baby. Now, go with Daddy and he'll make you look like an even bigger boy!"

"Daddy!" He jumped in my arms and smiled. I don't know how you do it, Fae. I mind linked  her as I was getting our son dressed.

It's a motherly gift.

I see. I chuckled. You know I love you, right?

And I love you. Are you boys almost ready?

Boys?! We men are very ready. I heard her laugh through the link and it made me smile as I tied Samuel's bow tie. I stepped out of the room and met Fae by the double doors that led to the ballroom and I gasped in astonishment. She was beautiful. Her long floral dress flowed behind her as she stood with power and purity.

"Are you ready?" She asked me.

"Are you?"

"Oh course I am." We spent all night dancing and laughing at our son, who had an amazing time, and we spent all night wrapped in each other's arms under the bed sheets. I would never want anyone as much as my Mate and a thought came to my mind. Mom knew what she was doing...and she knew what she would have to do so that Fae could live and so I would be happy. That's why she distanced herself from us, she was mentally preparing to save my family-our family and I will never be more grateful to anyone else. I treasured my little family more than words could say.

I may grow and change, Mom, but I'll never stop loving you.
