Twenty-One

We were going to the pack doctor today on account of getting the test results for Fae. I wasn't worried, but I wasn't calm either. I looked over as Fae was changing for any sign that she already knew what was going to happen, but she was just normal.

"I can feel your uncertainty, Lucian," she said, closing the drawer. "What is it?"

"Can't you just look in the future and see what's going to happen today?"

"I can, yes."

"But?"

"I decide not to. I would like to live somewhat of a normal life with little surprises here and there,"she chuckled. Ok, that made perfect sense.

"Oh." I felt kind of stupid now.

"There's no need to feel stupid, honey." she came close to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. "You asked and I answered. That's the way a question works."

"You saying that just makes me feel even more stupid."

She rolled her eyes and playfully smacked my chest. "Let's go, weirdo."

I followed her down the stairs and intertwined our fingers as we walked out the door. The morning dew was still on the bright green blades of grass, creating a glassy look to them and the flowers that bloomed. The sun was up with nice cloud cover and a cool breeze that passed through Fae's white hair. She looked absolutely wonderful this morning as she did every morning, but something was different. I kissed her cheek and nodded to the few pack members out this early as they bowed to us. The clinic wasn't far and we reached the doors in just five minutes, Julian greeting us at the door.

"Alph, Luna, it is a pleasure to see you. The Moon Goddess has blessed us with such a lovely morning," he smiled at Fae.

"I felt generous," she chuckled.

"Well, thanks for that," I said to her.

Julian led us into the clinic and we winded around a few rooms until he opened the door to the furthest at the end of the hall. "Room One" it said. He walked in and sat in his rolling chair as we sat in front of him.

"The results came out clear as day, really," he said, opening a file that was on the counter. "You're pregnant." We both smiled at each other."But...I'm a little worried."

I tensed. "Why? What's wrong? Is it the baby?"

"I need to examine the Luna to know for sure. I'll step out for a few minutes while she changes into the gown." He bowed and left, closing the door behind him. Fae stood and changed quickly, but my mind was reeling while she seemed calm. If Julian was worried then something must be wrong!

"Lucian," Fae said, touching my hand. "Calm down. We'll sort things out." Julian came back in and I helped her onto the table where he had her lay down. I tried not to growl as he examined her, but one slipped when he tore open the gown and touched her stomach. "I'm fine, Honey," she reassured me. Julian wrote down a few things in the file and excused himself while she changed again, but before she put her clothes back on I did an examination of my own. Just to make sure, you know? "Lucian, he didn't hurt me." I nodded and helped her into her close, though it might have been unnecessary, and Julian came back in.

"What's worrying me is simple and hidden, but there. You are pregnant, Luna, there's no mistake in that. You're healthy and strong."

"Then what's the problem?" I asked, feeling myself go on edge.

"The test results came back saying that she was 8 weeks, but when I examined her there was no bump in sight. What I'm thinking is that the baby is just a late bloomer is all, but there is another...situation that could arise."

"Which is...?" Fae put her hand on my thigh and I relaxed.

"The birth of a female Alpha. Males take less time to grow in the womb then females and as far as I know she is the first baby you've carried to an Alpha?" Fae suddenly paled.

"No," she whispered.

"WHAT!?!?" I roared, standing. "YOU'VE CARRIED ANOTHER BABY!?!?"

"Alpha, I think it's best if you-"

"SHUT UP, JULIAN!" I threw him into the wall and looked at my Mate. "WHO!?! WHO'S BABY WAS IT, FAE!?!"

Then she whispered the one name I thought I would never hear again, "Rex." That bastard Rouge and raped and impregnated my Mate! I sank to my knees and started to sob like a baby. I had let her down! I couldn't find her and he raped her! It was all my fault. "I was fourteen," she started and I whimpered at that. She was so young. "There was no doubt that Rex was the father because he was the only one who touched me and he would've let anyone else. When they found out about the baby...they went to Rex and convinced him that having a baby would be too much trouble and that they should kill it. H-He agreed with them...and that night they b-beat me so bad..." she started to cry and I got up from the floor and cradled her. "I-I was about three months then. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you."

"Is there anything else?"

"He wanted to try again...me wanted to properly Mate me so he could have a pup with me. His Mate had died in a raid they organized, so he had no one." I felt peace in knowing that I had already killed him.

"I think we should go home and come back a different time." She nodded and I apologized to Julian as we left.

I couldn't shake away the pain I felt, knowing that she had carried another man's pup, but it wasn't her fault. She had been used, abused, and every other thing, but I was just worried about how this would affect our pup....or if we could even have one....

So sorry for the late update, but this is a bit of a long chapter. I know that some of you will be like, "What? You never told us about a baby!" But ahaha yes, I did. End of chapter two, I believe. So, yes, I did, but she never told Lucian about it and please don't get upset over that either. Maybe you would've told someone about it, but Fae was traumatized and everyone handles situations differently.
