Eva's POV

I sighed as I walked into school. The familiar crowded hallways had suddenly begun to look like a foreign wasteland as I caught the glances of several girls in the hallway. They all began to whisper to each other and look to me and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I kept walking to my locker.

As I was getting my books for the day, I overheard a conversation between a couple of girls down the hall. I pretended not to listen as I flipped through my notebooks and pretended to look for a certain page of notes or something.

"Isn't that Eva Whitman?" she asked her friend.

"Yeah, apparently, Harry left his friends for her," her friend responded. I rose an eyebrow.

How the hell did they know about this. And why was it their concern??

"They used to be best friends in middle school," the first girl said, "and then he left her for popularity but apparently people are saying that he's only with her because she's hot now."

"Where'd you hear that?" the friend asked.

"Niall," she replied, "he was talking to Louis about how much of a jerk Harry has become."

I furrowed my eyebrows and felt my heart drop. But then I realized what Harry had told me about the bet the other day at the diner and I felt my worries ease up a bit. That didn't stop me from closing my locker and going over to the girls though.

"Hello," I said. They both turned to look at me with their eyebrows raised. I smiled and shifted my backpack.

"Next time you're going to talk about someone, make sure they're not around so they can hear you," I said, "also, why don't you try to keep your nosy asses out of everybody else's business and go focus on your own lives for once?"

I didn't wait for their reply as I turned around and walked away. I rolled my eyes to myself as I walked through the hallways and caught a glimpse of Harry at his locker. What made me frown was seeing Madison propped up next to him. She was smiling flirtatiously as she twirled her hair around her finger. I stopped walking and stood next to a locker as I observed them. I couldn't help but frown to myself again when a rush of jealousy and sadness washed over me. I guess it was just my disbelief that after all this time, he still associated himself with Madison.

Harry seemed to be more concerned with what was in his locker as she spoke which made me feel a bit lighter. Madison began to move closer, which caused Harry's head to snap up and look at her. He moved away slightly and she kept moving towards him. Finally, he stepped back and shut his locker before he shook his head and walked away, leaving a surprised Madison behind. I didn't realize my eyes had widened until I blinked again and followed behind him.

"Harry," I called, as I walked down the hallway. He heard my voice and turned around with furrowed eyebrows before his face softened. He stopped walking and waited for me to catch up before he smiled at me.

"Hey," he smiled, "how's your morning been?"

I shrugged as we began to walk, "okay. Erm...there are rumors going around about us."

"Yeah I know," he frowned, "Madison came by to tell me about them. Honestly, please don't believe them."

I shook my head, "I don't."

He nodded and smiled, "so, what class do you have?"

"Erm...well today I have History," I said, "you?"

"Math."

I laughed and nudged him. He hated math because he said it got too hard after Grade 4.

I know it was really because he couldn't use the blocks anymore to play with, though.

"Apparently, Niall is going around telling the whole school - well his friends and people are hearing it but that doesn't matter - that you're only trying to be my friend again because I lost weight," I mumbled. He stopped walking and grasped my arm and looked at me. His green eyes burned into mine as he looked at me.

"It's not true and you know it," he said before his lips began to curve, "if I was I would've probably given up because of your stubbornness."

I scoffed and punched him, "I am not stubborn."

He hummed and nodded sarcastically. I punched his arm and was about to speak but I was interrupted.

"Hey hoes," Evan called from down the hall. I turned my head to find him sauntering over to us, "what is happening here? Harry, did you fuck up again?"

Harry scoffed, "please, jackass. I'm simply telling Eva that she has a tendency to be quite stubborn."

"I am not stubborn," I looked to Evan, "am I?"

Evan looked me up and down before he held my gaze for a second. I raised my eyebrows and tilted my head as I waited for his response. It didn't come however, as he simply turned his head and started to talk to Harry about this show he started watching. I gaped at them and rolled my eyes before I turned around and headed down the hall.

"You guys suck!" I called.

"We love you too," Evan replied.

I smirked and kept walking. I was honestly quite happy that Evan had decided to give Harry a chance. They got along quite well, but Evan still made it clear that I wasn't to let Harry in just as quick as he did. He knew that if he hurt us, it would be different for Evan than it would be for me, and I loved Evan for that. But that didn't stop me from growing a tad jealous whenever I saw them hangout. I scoffed as I shook my head.

It must be a guy thing - to let go of situations so easily and then act like nothing happened....or Evan's just one of those "fuck it," guys. My guess was the latter.

I didn't know what to do about the whole bet thing though. I knew Harry was telling the truth. He hadn't changed a bit and I could tell when he'd lie because his chin would tremble slightly. That happened when he'd get nervous too so I like to think that I still knew him fairly well.

I just didn't know how well I'd handle this new situation that popped up. It was slightly concerning.
