Harry's POV

Eva's been acting more distant than usual lately. Don't get me wrong, we still hang out every single second of the day. But it seems like she's changing?

I don't know. Sometimes we'll catch each other looking at her and then we'll just sit there in awkward silence until she blushes and tries to leave. This one time, I was at her locker and I reached down to hold her hand like I always do, and she blushed and pulled away.

I told my mom about it and she said...

Oh haha,

Get this,

She said that Eva could possibly like me.

I don't think I've ever laughed harder in my life. I mean, Eva? And me? No way.

She was my best friend. Best friends didn't date! That would be so weird. And then what would happen if we were to date and then break up? I'd lose her. I couldn't risk that.

So today, on Thursday, I decided to put all of that aside, and spend some time with Eva at the mall. She wanted to get some new jeans and I told her I'd come along.

~

"Those look good," I said. She sighed and shrugged as she looked at herself in the mirror.

It wasn't a lie. Her body wasn't slim like most girls in school; it was curvy and....full...that's what I loved most about her. She wasn't a carbon copy of someone else. My Eva was her own person. Her own beautiful person.

The jeans brought out her curves beautifully and honestly, I just wished she wasn't being bullied at this school so she could see how pretty she was.

"I don't know," she trailed off. I sighed and stood up, walking towards her. I leaned on the wall in the hallway of the dressing room as she continued to look at herself in the 3 panel mirror.

"Snookums," I hummed. She glared at me. I snickered.

"You look amazing."

"She does look amazing," a voice said. I furrowed my eyebrows as we turned to look at who the voice belonged to.

Some blonde dude stood opposite me, eyeing Eva with a hungry smirk. He had blue devious eyes and had his hands shoved into his pockets as he looked her up and down.

Eva shifted uncomfortably and looked to me. I frowned and stepped forward, clenching my jaw slightly.

"Can I help you, mate?" I asked, stiffening when Eva moved to stand behind me. The blonde guy's face shifted a bit and he smirked.

"Are you two together?" He asked.

"No." She replied.

"Yes." I said simultaneously.

I felt myself blush when I said yes and Eva said no. The blonde dude smiled slightly and stepped forward, eyes on Eva.

"I'm Evan," he introduced himself, "just moved here from Liverpool."

"Eva. T-th-this is Harry," she murmured, "he's uh..he's my best friend."

I turned to look at her and frowned when I saw her looking quite upset herself. Before I could open my mouth and ask her, Evan spoke instead.

"Cool," he smiled, "you're really pretty Eva."

Eva blushed and moved out from behind me, shyly brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. She looked timidly at me before smiling at him.

"T-t-thank you," she replied. Surprisingly, I felt my fists clench up and I bit my lip as I looked down.

What the hell was happening? I had never felt this way before. Suddenly my mom's words from earlier repeated in my head.

You like her, Harry.

Bullshit. I do not.

"Yeah," he smirked, "I was wondering, would you like to maybe, go out sometime?"

"She's busy," I muttered, frowning when Eva slapped my arm.

"Im not," she denied, "I uh...yeah. I'd love to hang out."

I looked at her shocked as he laughed and nodded.

"Wonderful," he smirked, "I'm actually free right now? If your friend doesn't mind."

I clenched my jaw and tried my hardest not to punch Evan in the face, and shook my head.

Eva was making friends. I should be happy for her. So I will be happy for her.

"Not at all," I smiled stiffly, "have fun."

I smiled and pulled Eva in for a long hug, rubbing her back gently as she grasped my t-shirt in her hands. She buried her head into my chest and I smiled softly.

"Be careful okay," I whispered, "call me if you need anything. Don't be nervous. I love you."

"I love you," she murmured. I pecked her hair and pulled back. I looked to Evan and gave him a tight lipped smile before I began to walk down towards the exit of the change rooms.

"Harry," Eva called. I turned, eyebrows furrowed as she jogged over to me, looking beautiful in her blue jeans and red sweater.

"Why can't you come with us?" She asked, pulling her sleeves over her fists.

"I'd rather let you get to know him on your own. Plus," I sighed, "I might tear his head off of his neck."

We looked back at Evan who was texting on his phone and Eva chuckled before she focused back on me.

"I have my phone. I'll text you as we go," she said. I nodded, wrapping my hands around her curvy waist.

"Be safe," I warned. She nodded obediently and smiled shyly. I smirked and kissed her forehead.

"If he tries anything," I said, looking at him, "you tell me as soon as possible and I'll beat his ass."

"Harry," she sighed, "as you said. I'm making friends. This could be my chance to make myself less of a loser."

I stared at her.

"What?" She asked, "don't look at me like that. You're quite popular. You have a bunch of friends."

I sighed.

"You might even leave me for one of them someday," she grumbled. I snorted.

"That's not even possible," I denied.

"Who knows," she sighed, "anyways, I should get going. See if Evan is worth the trouble."

I nodded and pulled her in for another tight hug. I kissed her hair and squeezed her tightly.

"You're beautiful, you're smart, you're not fat, you're gorgeous, you're going to be wonderful friends with Evan," I promised, "now go and be social."

She laughed and nodded before she shyly began making her way back towards the blonde douche bag. I sighed and left the store, leaving myself alone with my fourteen year old thoughts. And a cell phone.

I hope she'll be okay.

-------------------------------------

Harry's fourteen and stupid. Don't be mad at him for leaving Eva with Evan.

Or be mad.

Idc.
