Eva's POV

"Fine then," I said, "then I guess...I guess we're done."

Harry nodded solemnly, gazing at me as tears streamed down my face. He took a step back from my door and made his way down my porch steps, "I'm sorry."

2 hours earlier

It was finally June, which meant graduation was just around the corner. It excited me to no end and although Harry and I spent less time together, it made me overjoyed to know that in just three weeks, we'd be done with high school and going to university.

He and I would be going to different schools, but I didn't seem to mind because I knew that we'd always end up finding our way back to each other. Plus, we'd be able to visit each other as well.

I hummed to myself as I sat in the kitchen, scrolling through my phone and laughing at whatever meme caught my attention. I giggled a bit and sighed before my phone began to ring. Harry was calling. I smiled and picked up immediately.

"Hello?" I asked, biting a bit of my snack.

"Hey," he said, "I'm at work but can I drop by in like two hours? We need to talk."

"What about?"

"Just stuff," he said, "it's important. It's something I've been wanting to talk about for a while now."

I frowned and shifted in my chair, "is everything okay?"

"It will be...eventually," he replied, "I just need to talk to you. Can I come over?"

I nodded and then shook my head, realizing that he very well couldn't see me.

"Yeah, of course."

"Okay," he replied, "see you in two hours."

~Two hours later~

I sat in my living room, knees up to my chest and thinking about what it could possibly be that Harry wanted to talk about.

He couldn't be wanting to break up right? I mean, we had been growing apart lately, but that was because I was busy with school and he had work and he had also started to hang out with Niall again every now and then.

The door bell rung and made me jump. I scrambled to the door and opened it to find Harry standing there. His face smiled at me but his eyes held a hint of something.

Guilt? Sadness? Fear?

"Hey," I began and moved to let him in, only to have his head shake at me.

"I can't stay," he said. I tilted my head.

"Why not?"

He looked at me, "because I won't be able to do what I'm about to do if I do stay."

I felt my heart thud in my chest.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked, feeling my voice crack slightly.

He sighed and looked down, "this...this isn't going to work. Us, I mean."

I felt the air leave my lungs as I gazed at his figure, standing still in front of me with a pained look in his eyes. I was about to speak, protest even and drag him inside so I could just hold him and tell him that he was going insane but he spoke again.

"It's working now, but that's it. It's just for now. What happens when we go to university? We'll grow apart. Neither of us will try to fix it," he said.
