I wasn't really into dating. I was more annoyed that this whole soulmate thing left everything to chance. I mean, what if you never met your soulmate? So after meeting with Jason I did a little research. "Will!" I called him up to my room, lying on my stomach over my soft comforter. My computer was in front of me, open. He poked his head in and smiled. "What's up?"
"Look what I found out." I pointed to the screen and he came and sat next to me on my bed, his eyes scanning it what I was pointing to. "I didn't know you were into this stuff." I shrugged. "Nah, I was just curious, so I did a little checking. And look. It says that none of your relationships work if it's not with your soulmate. That's how you know." He frowned.
"Well that's kinda unfair. What if you don't like them?"
"Good point."
"Oh well, I guess."
"Oh well." I shifted so I was looking at him, resting my head in my hand and lacing my fingers through my messy bed head. My mouth twitched up into a smile, and I flicked his shoulder. "Let's do something." He glanced down. "What do you want to do?"
"Let's... go to the beach."
"Is there even one near here?" My eyes widened. "You've never been? Come on!" I grabbed his hand and pulled him off the bed, taking the steps quickly and opening the door. He chuckled and jogged a bit to catch up.
The walk was slow- we were a good 10 minutes from the shore, and neither of us had a car or a license. We talked a little on the way, just chatting. "So what'd you and Jason do?" He asked me, nudging my side.
"I mean, we hung out. Got something to eat. He's really cool." Will nodded. "That's good. Nice to hear you happy." We walked a little bit more in silence, then I heard the faint sounds of the water, crashing up on the shore. "That's it. We're here." I said, pulling Wills sweatshirt sleeve. He grinned cheerfully, a smile that could blind me. I shielded my eyes. "What?" He asked. "Tone down the smile, dude, I'm gonna go blind just looking at it." He laughed then and pushed me gently. "I see the water. Race ya!" He started sprinting away, and I soon followed, my hair whipping into my eyes. He was fast- but I was just as fast, and we collapsed onto the sand at the same time, panting. He puffed out a laugh, then looked up. I never got tired of seeing this place- I used to go when Mama got bad, when I needed an escape. I liked to sound of the water, the calmness that accompanied me. This time, though, I wasn't alone, and I think I would like it more this way.
