Chapter Twenty-Two: Leaving The Roe Kingdom

"Ready to go, Lucy?" Gray asked.

"Yes," I replied.

He came closer to me and picked me up, piggy back style. We started walking towards the gates of the castle. Once we were outside, Gray brought me to one of his knights and ordered the knight to let me ride with him instead of Gray. Which I didn't really like.

The knight helped me on his horse. And then Gray left to his horse. I watched him the whole way. Once he was on his horse he headed towards my kingdom.

Once we were half way to my kingdom I realized Gray's mood totally shifted.

"Is it just me or does Gray seem upset about something?" I whispered to the knight.

"You're not riding with him on his horse," the knight told me.

"But why would that make him upset?" I asked the knight.

"You really are clueless," the knight laughed.

"Clueless of what?" I asked the knight.

"It's nothing," the knight dismissed.

Finally I was home. Gray came over to the horse I was sitting on and brought me back in his arms into piggy back style. And he walked me to the front gates. 

"Gray, this is far enough," I said. "I don't want my parents to hate you more than they already do. So please don't go in. My father might kill you," I stated.

"I know," said Gray.

"But I will talk to them about the marriage. But more importantly about coming back. So I can get to know you," I said.

The look on his face was so funny. He looked so shocked. But what can I say? I do love the boy. But I don't want to be rushed to marry him.

Gray settled me down.

"Bye Lucy," Gray said.

I kissed him on the cheek. Then I walked slowly inside the kingdom since the cut on my leg really hurts. I think Gray noticed.

"Lucy I can-"

"Gray it's okay. I already told you, I don't want them to hate you even more," I repeated.

I continued to walk inside the castle and walked to my parents room. The guards that were on duty noticed I was back and brought a message to my parents. But I got there first.

I busted through the door only to be welcomed by my mother. But my Dad is always in his room now. Where could he be?

"Mother! I have something urgent to speak to you about!" I said.

"I know," my mother said.

"I want to-"

"You want to accept his offer because of what they did to you! I mean look at your leg!" My mother cried.

Damn! I forgot to cover it up. But my walking is bad so they would have noticed.

"No that's not it! We need this alliance for the kingdom so our kingdoms can stop fighting this bloody war!" I yelled but I wasn't done. "And Gray didn't do this to me. I tripped when I was talking to him and that's how I got this huge cut!" I stated.

But she didn't know why I tripped, I thought.

"Lucy we can't let you except that offer because if you did except that offer then you would live in the Roe Kingdom! What about me and your father! We can't rule it for much longer!" My mother screamed.

"It doesn't matter! You guys can live peacefully here! But I've fallen in love with him so I am excepting their offer!" I screamed.

My mother came over towards me and slapped me.

"How dare you..." she said slowly and quiet. "You betrayed everyone in this kingdom. Even worse than that you betrayed Gajeel and Laxus," my mother claimed.

I didn't have anytime to think before I said,"How dare you bring them up in this conversation! Unlike you, they treated me well. I never cared about my damn title as a princess! So say all you want it's not going to change my mind!" I screamed in her face.

She backed away from me. But suddenly the door was thrown open to reveal Maid Mira.

"Your husband is close to death!" Mira yelled.

I took one look of my mother then instantly I ran to the infirmary without a second thought.
