THE PRINCESS KNIGHT (GRAYLU)

Chapter Two: I Want To Grit My Teeth & Fight!

I ran away and I didn't look back. But I could still hear my mother's screams.

"Lucy!" My Mom yelled.

"Lucy!" She yelled again.

I thought about running away to the bridge like I always do. But I changed my mind. I'm going to father. And I'm going to tell him that I am going to be a knight! But there's one problem...

I knew my Mom was running after me.

I ran down the halls of the huge stone castle, all the way to my father's room. I busted through the doubled doors. It didn't look like he was sleeping yet. But he did look startled.

"Dad! I understand that your Ill But why can't I fight along side with the knights?" I asked forcefully.

"Because Lucy! Your too young. And if you fight along side of them there's a good chance you'll end up dying. Plus you have to find a prince for a husband," my father said.

"Dad! Because I'm too young! Because I might die? These reasons are not a good enough reason for me not to fight for my country. I don't want to be like other princesses and rely on others for my own protection. I want to grit my teeth and fight!" I yelled.

We both heard a loud shuffling noise outside my Father's room. A few seconds later my Mother burst through the door, and she looked pissed.

"Lucy! How dare you-"

My father raised his arm. He looked over at me and smiled. It was so awkward. My Father never smiles at me. What the hell is going on? My Mother stopped talking to me. Well in this case yelling at me. She let my Father say what he needed to say.

"Lucy. I understand your reasons. That's why tomorrow first thing... you will go to the planning room with the knights. I'm allowing you to fight this small battle. The way things go tomorrow for you and all week for this mission, will decide if you can fight on the front lines with the knights permanently. But only on one condition," my Father said.

"What's that condition?" My Mother asked.

"Lucy has to wear a dress. Just because when your fighting you'll forget who you are. Your name has power. Not just in your sword, or any other weapon you might be using on a mission," my Father said.

I was speechless. He's allowing me? Why? I thought It was too dangerous for me. I thought he was too scared to let me fight because he thought I might die. I mean there is that possibility.

"Lucy don't give me that look," my Father said.

"Uh! Sorry! Thank you!" I said as I quickly bowed.

My Mother and Father starting laughing. It made me feel uncomfortable. I wanted to ask about why I couldn't send letters to Levy anymore. But that will have to wait I guess. I don't want to push him even further. But for now I need to worry about the upcoming mission. I exited the room. I then listened for further conversation between my parents. But what came shocked me. My Dad started coughing hard. Then I heard a splat.

"Blood?" My Mom said.

My eyes darkened.

"Let's get you to bed," my Mom finished.

"I'm alright," my Father said.

I don't know how I got back to my room. My mind was filled with thoughts like what will happen to me if he dies? What will happen to the kingdom?'

I was so focused on my thoughts that I never realized Daryl was calling me. I slammed the door on his face. He's probably worried about me. But I don't have time to worry about that. I just really need some sleep. I have a meeting with the Castle's knights. I took my shoes off and put them to the side of my bed. I laid down on my bed. I fell asleep slowly then all at once that night. 

Maid Erza woke me up at 6 in the morning like she usually does. I thanked her and got up. She left seconds later. I went to my ruby dresser and looked for my white dress. It was very light and it wasn't one of my very flashy dresses so I was satisfied. Once I found it I putted it on. Then, I picked up my sword and putted it in the compartment on the side of my dress. Once I was satisfied I went to the huge kitchen and grabbed some fruit for breakfast and went into the planning room. Sir Natsu, the head knight, was already in the room. He was looking at a map and shading in regions with black ink lightly. I sat down next to him and he smirked.

"So your the 'new' knight in training? Who would of thought it would be you princess..." Sir Natsu said with a smirk.

I wasn't surprised with the way he's talking to me. It's been like this since I beat him to a duel with a wooden sword. He never does forget.

"I'm not here for your pleasure," I reassured him.

"Of course not!" He protested.

I continued to watch him shade in the regions. I would see his fingers shake now and then. I guess his feelings haven't changed either? About thirty minutes later the rest of the knights walked in. They sat all across the table. Most stood but some like the general sat down. I standed though. It wasn't my place to sit down yet. I was here to listen and work so I could at least become a knight. But I want to be on the front lines one day with one of the best knights. That's my true goal. But I have to get through this week first.

"Alright! There's been word on bandits stealing food from many villagers. Our job for the next seven days is to figure this out. We are not allowed to discuss anything about the war in front of the princess until she gets approved by her father and I," Sir Natsu said.

"Yes sir!" The Knights said.

I nodded.

"We shall go to the village. Everyone besides the princess because there's been word that your communicating with one of the Village girls and the king will chop my head off if he ever finds out that I allowed you to see this peasant of a girl," Sir Natsu rosters

Even if I wanted to stick up for Levy because she wasn't here. It wouldn't do me any good. Especially against the head Knight. He does have permission to cut my head off if I don't listen. I am only a knight in training.

Our mission is to go to the village and investigate more into the matter of the bandits. If we are able to capture one in a day or a month then the mission will be over. But they want to make sure I can handle someone that deserves to be killed and if they do anything would I be able to kill him or her if needed?Which I will able to do. Only because I've killed before. But only Father and Mother know that.

The mission starts tomorrow morning. The knights dismissed themselves and I left as well.

The rest of the day consisted of me training myself.
