Gray's P.O.V

I didn't think the Redoah kingdom hated me so much. I knew it was bad. But I didn't think it was this much. They threw me out of their kingdom all because of their hatred. Seeing Lucy there made it worse. I at least didn't want her to see something along the lines of me being restrained against my own will. I would've kicked all of their asses if it wasn't for Lucy being there. But she followed her mother and saw her Mom's true identity.

That women loathes me. All because of what my father did before his passing. He killed her mother right in front of her. The journey back to my kingdom was difficult. I had to let go of the only person I've been in love with. It's crazy how fate works. My fate was to be captured by my love's fiancé. All they did was throw me out of their kingdom. At least they're smart enough to know that if I was imprisoned we would've gone to war. Letting go of Lucy, trying to at the least, didn't do anything but cause a ache in my chest. I sleep with those thoughts alone.

The next day, I am welcomed with my maid entering the room telling me to get up. I go about my daily routine and picked up my sword. I haven't practiced in the court yard in awhile. The fresh air calms me. I haven't felt this relaxed in awhile. But all of a sudden the bell rings.

One of my maids tell me that the queen and Lucy has arrived. I question why that woman would be here with her daughter I was just beat against my will from that unknown man.

I walk back into the castle and am welcomed with Lucy. The sight of her makes me smile. But the glares her mother are sending me make me wanna send both of them away for good.

"Why are you here?" I ask with a sharpness to my voice.

"To talk," Lucy's mother says.

"I'm listening," I spit.

"Can we talk in private away from my daughter and the guards you have around me and my daughter?" She asks.

"Clear the room," I shout.

"You too Lucy," I hear the woman whisper.

Lucy doesn't even look at me as she goes to the Court Yard. I feel a slight ache in my stomach that I've never felt before.

"What is that you want?" I question.

"My daughter's happiness. I'm willing to put everything aside. But your father will never get my forgiveness. So don't ask for anything from me if you both want this. It'll be the best for the kingdoms. We can finally have an alliance," she spoke.

"Is that all?" I ask.

"Yes it is," she answers.

"Thank you," I said shocked.

She bows and points to the direction Lucy went as she leaves the room. Surprising she does not go after her daughter. But entrusts that to me. I run in the direction of the Court Yard. I don't see her anywhere. I go around the back to the Royal Garden and see her sitting on the ground picking flowers. If the gardener sees what she was doing I bet he would have a heart attack.

I quickly run over to her and she turns around and looks at me. She looks hurt. Did I do something? I quickly take her hand and grab her chin so she would look at me. She quickly moves away.

"What's wrong?" I request.

She doesn't answer. But I see the tears spilling from her eyes. I grab her waist and she smacks my hand off. I step back in disbelief. Her eyes widen and she looks at me. But she turns away again.

"Did I do something?" I insist.

"No," she says.

"Then what is it?" I demand.

"It's all my fault that you were hurt. I couldn't even protect you," she answers as she finally looks at me but the tears on her eyes quickly come down her face. I quickly grab her and make her look at me.

"It's not your job to protect me. It's my job to protect you," I state.

"But the whole reason I picked up a sword was to protect people and I couldn't even do that the other night," she replies as she tries to free herself from my grasp. But I hold onto her tighter.

"It's not your fault," I tell her.

She moves her head and lets her head fall on my chest. I could quickly feel my shirt becoming soaked. I wrap my arms around her and just let her cry. Eventually she stops and looks at me. I pull her to her feet and bend my knee. I grab her hand.

"We found each other against all odds. I'm in love with you and I want to be with you for the rest of my life. May I take this hand in marriage?" I plead.

"Yes," she says as she smiles.

I rise and hug her. When she lets go I grab her face and kiss her.
