Everything felt okay, but was everything okay?

Tyler's eyes were still closed, and my eyes were brimming with tears. I was afraid that they wouldn't go away anytime soon.

Despite all the happiness that I should be experiencing, all I felt was bittersweet. There was still so much that didn't make sense. I needed answers.

"Tyler...?" I started, and he just nodded ever-so-slightly, his eyes closed. I took a deep breath, swallowing the lump in my throat. "I don't understand."

That made him open his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"Everything. I don't understand any of this. What's going on?" I asked, my voice no more than a whisper.

His mouth formed an o-shape, as if he were surprised about something. "Crap... I forgot that you didn't know."

I nodded with a frown. "Explain...?"

"Alright," Tyler chewed on his bottom lip, staring at me pitifully. "I'll start from the beginning."

He just stared down blankly for a few minutes, before finally speaking again. "So, the day that you were supposed to come over, Luna answered the door..." Tyler trailed off.

I felt my heart drop in my chest again. "Yeah?"

"A few days earlier, she called me saying that she finally had an explanation for what happened years ago. She asked me if we could meet up to talk, and I thought it would be a good idea to finally get closure."

I nodded. It hurt, but I understood Tyler's reasoning. He deserved closure, anyways.

"Anyways, she came over to my house, and we talked. At first, Luna was saying something about how her dad had paid her mom to move away to Florida, so his reputation wouldn't get ruined. I guess Luna's mom really needed the money, so she did it, and one of the rules was that Luna wasn't allowed to tell people why she was really moving."

I trembled as an uncontrollable flash of swirling black passed through me. I knew that my dad was an asshole, but this was new territory. "Why would it ruin his reputation, though?"

Tyler shook his head sadly. "I guess he didn't want people to find out that he had an affair. He already had two little girls of his own, so the fact that he got another woman pregnant twice didn't seem like it would roll over well with the public."

The two little girls were Vivian and I.

"And the woman's kids were Luna and Wesley, right?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

"Yeah," Tyler sighed. "And the dad of the two children was your dad too, which made Wes and Luna your half-siblings."

I nodded bitterly. "I don't mind Wesley."

"Me neither," he agreed. "Anyways, Luna told me the story of why she was forced to move, and any bitterness I had towards her kinda diminished. I mean, she didn't have a choice. Then, she started talking about how her mom died, and started crying a whole bunch."

I shouldn't be mad at Luna either, I decided, but that didn't stop my anger. "I understand."

Tyler rested his hand atop of mine and continued. "She said she had nowhere to go, and I couldn't just kick her out of my house. I told her I'd let her stay a couple of days until she found a place."
