The thing dragons fear

The next day Hiccup is eating breakfast at the small outdoors cafe with Elena and Drake "They flew off again" Elena says and she adds "This has to stop, I'm starting to lose sleep because of it as well" "I know what you mean" Drake says he looks at Hiccup, who is utterly confused "Something roars at night scaring all the dragons, it also makes the vikings who are awake at that point unable to fall asleep" Elena says and the pets her Night Fury, completely the same as Toothless but the eyes are a bright blue "Midnight doesn't seems to be bothered by it, she just growls when it comes, like it's a threat to everyone", Toothless looks at Midnight and walks over to her "Well something has to be done soon, my dad searched everywhere, not counting the volcano of course, no one comes near there" Elena says rubbing her eyes "We can check it out now" Hiccup says, but Elena shakes her head "We're absolutely forbidden to go anywhere near the volcano" she says and Drake whispers "We won't get in trouble if they don't know" "You're both crazy" Elena says and she sighs "Dad will ground me for life if he finds out though, so I can't, though Midnight might be more comfortable in the stables" she says glancing at Drake "I think Midnight wants to stay with Toothless" Hiccup says mentioning to the two dragons who are running off "Midnight!" Elena calls and she sighs "Let's go get them before they reach the mountain" she adds and the three run off to catch up to the dragons, but they lose sight of them pretty quickly "And they headed up the mountain" Drake says and the three look at the rocky path leading up that's ahead of them "Well then" Elena says and she starts heading up carefully "What's behind this mountain?" Hiccup asks Drake as the two start to follow the girl "Wild dragon territory, they leave other dragons alone, but when they sees a human being they'll attack" Drake says and he catches Elena by her wrist as she falls down "Of cours they'll attack, they sense we're afraid" she says and she adds "Also, the view is totally worth the climb up here".

They reach the top and Hiccup is speechless, endless valleys, forests and plains were behind the mountain shielding the village from the outside "There they are" Elena says pointing to the two Night Furies "They're heading to the volcano in a straight line" Drake points out and Hiccup groans "Guess we are heading there now, any advise if Toothless ever runs up here again?" "Take someone with you" Drake says as Elena takes a torch from a hidden box and she tosses one to the boys too "There we go, we'll light these on our way to the valley, it's gonna be a long day" she says and they head off, of course it wasn't weird for the two to head off towards one of the valleys, but the chief always had someone search for them when it became night time. After a few hours they somehow manages to stay undetected, but suddenly a dragon lands in front of them and Hiccup recognizes it as one of Drake or Elena's dragons "Please tell me you didn't bring my dad" Elena says and the dragon roars "And our covers blown, run!" Drake says and they run on, they were nearly at the valley leading to the volcano, but a roar is heard and the three stop in their tracks "Hurry!" Hiccup says seeing the Night Furies in the distance "Stop you three!" the chief calls and Elena jumps on the back a wild Death Song and she pulls the others up too "Okay go!" she says and the dragon flies off "Way to tame a dragon" Hiccup says and Drake says "Nah, she does this often, when running from her father, wonder if this one actually wants to go the volcano, she doesn't tame them, they just like her more then they like the chief", the dragon does fly towards the volcano and the three jumps off to stop their own dragons in their track "Midnight, are you crazy?" Elena asks hugging her dragon and the two Night Furies growl and the three turn towards the opening of the volcano "Who's going to take a look?" Hiccup asks and Toothless pushes him forward "Guess you" Drake says earning a glare from the brown haired boy as he walks forwards and he slowly peeks into the volcano "We might have a problem" he says stepping back and he gets on Toothless his back "There's a very angry dragon in there" he adds so the other two get on Midnight and follow him up "We might need a better description then a very angry dragon" Drake says and Midnight flies closer to the gap, but quickly backs away. "Explains why we never see it, it's the same color as the lava" Drake says and the two dragons fly off wanting to protect their friends "Dad, we have to-" Elena gets cut of by another roar, one much closer and the three look behind them "Take the waterfall route back" the chief says and Elena says "You better come back", back at the village they put both Night Furies in the stables "This place is dragon proof right?" Hiccup asks and Drake says "Yes, we've had a rampaging monstrous nightmare in here once" "And a sick Nadder" Elena says while petting her dragon "This is the safest place in the entire village by now" she adds, the two white dragons fly over and the group hears another roar "Quick up the ladder" Elena says and the two follow her, Drake opens the dragon proof hatch and Hiccup says "At least it's going back" "Yes, but our dragons" Elena says, by now the stable was filled with dragons "And a few buildings are on fire" she says so they decide to go and check the damage "My house" Elena says and her eyes widen "Mom!" she calls running in, but barely manages to get someone out "Her mother rarely leaves the house" Drake says and he adds "And we really need to make our houses fireproof" "All our material went to the stables" Elena says and her father runs over "Let's get everyone to the hall" he says and Hiccup asks "Why doesn't anyone try to get rid if the dragon?" "We did, all three of us" Elena says helping her mother up "We were suppose to succeed, but mom got hit by a fireball and dad told me to retreat, it flew off towards another island, so we never thought it would return here, seems the volcano is the only place it can live" she says "We nearly died, must be why dad told everyone to stay away from it".

That evening Hiccup is looking outside from the stables and Elena comes in with the last dragon "There your father won't notice a thing" she says climbing back up as some Terrible Terrors flies in "We're the only island who lives among dragons" Drake says closing the hatch "Midnight, come here" Elena says and her dragon runs over after pushing against the door to see if it's locked "Tomorrow's gonna be a rough day" Hiccup says with a sigh.
