-----------------------------------
The story about what happened at the festival kept ringing through my head a million times. A million questions were surrounding the story in my brain too. I sat in the empty hall that no one ever goes in and thought. I need to figure this out. Find out where my mom is and get her back. Just like that, an idea came to my mind.
"I got it!" I said aloud, "I know how to fix this and get my mom back!"
I got up and ran down the hallway to my room. Inside my room I went straight to my closet and grabbed a jacket. Next I made my way without anybody seeing me, outside of the castle.
"What can I help you with princ-" The coachmen started to say.
"Sorry I don't have time. Take me to Queen Isabella and King Nicholas's kingdom!" I said quickly and impatient. The coachmen got the carriage ready. I got inside and waited for him to set off.
In no time we were riding down the cobble road and through the village. I looked ahead instead of out the window. I didn't really want to look at any of the villagers passing by, watching the carriage go by them on the streets.
After we passed the village I looked out my window. The afternoon sky was clear and beautiful. Not a cloud in sight. I sat back in my seat and tried to figure out what I would say to my grandparents. The last time I saw them was Christmas time. It was now the end of May.
"Maybe I could...could introduce myself." I paused, "then ask to speak to them alone. Once we are alone I'll state what I've heard. Finally we will save my mom!" I said the last part confident and loud.
"Is everything okay princess? I wouldn't want to turn around because we just arrived." The coachman said a little concerned.
"No, I'm perfect. Better than perfect actually. Thanks for dropping me off!" I yelled over my shoulder as I ran towards the castle steps.
I reached the tall castle door and knocked twice. The right door opened slowly letting in a gap of light from the outside.
I stepped into the main hall with the throne room at the other end. At the other end were two royals sitting proudly in their thrones.
"Who is it?" A voice said from one of the thrones. I swallowed hard and walked towards them. My mind was racing, I hadn't seen them in forever. I bowed slightly and then looked up at my grandparents.
"It is me Princess Isabella of Cosadonia, daughter of Queen Elizabeth. I come here to speak to you alone about something for you only to hear..." I said proudly.
My grandmother stood up and walked towards me. She stood about a foot away and gave me a dead straight face. It was silent for two whole minutes until she broke the silence.
"Oh my sweet little Izze. I've missed you so much!" She hugged me tightly and continued speaking, "How's mom doing these days?"
I let go of her and spoke softly, "That's why I'm here. I need to talk to you two privately."
My grandparents exchanged glances to each other and then looked at me blankly.
"What do you mean?" My grandfather asked me.
"What I mean is that we don't know where she is..." I said looking down at my feet.
"That's insane! I really think you need to rest.." My grandpa said worried.
I looked at my grandma for some help. She had to understand I was telling the truth. She has to!
All I got from her was an answer I didn't like, "I think your grandpa is right..."
"You guys don't believe me?" I asked stunned.
"Oh Izze.." My grandma said with her hand on my cheek. I pushed it away and wished they actually understood. I felt like I didn't have a lot of time and I knew I had to do something to get them to believe me.
"Don't you get it? My mom is missing!" I snapped.
"You know you don't talk to us like that young lady." My grandma said sternly.
"I'm sorry I just wish you would understand that I am telling the truth." I said slowly.
"Alright, how about we talk in the courtyard. Alone." My grandpa said glancing slowly behind his back. I nodded and followed him through the castle.
The hallway lights were dimmed and servants sped by without even looking up and greeting us. I thought that was kind of odd and a bit rude. We went to the left and approached a tall arch door. The guards opened the doors and light was let in.
We were now in the courtyard. My grandpa motioned me to sit with him at a small white metal table with two chairs.
"Sit and tell me everything. I want to know the background story to this." My grandpa said gripping my hand.
"Okay well basically, it was our grand festival. Then after a while a big chasm formed and people were rushing in all different directions. My father told me my mom went to go eat something and then disappeared." I let it sink in then continued, "That is all we know from my siblings and I, and also our father's experience."
"Alright then I think we might be able to figure this out.." My grandpa said calmly.
"How are we supposed to do that?" I ask.
