I stared out the window anxiously. Isabella was just behind me sitting on my bed. I chewed silently on my bottom lip. What was I supposed to do? I couldn't blurt it out. Izze would hate me. Plus, mother told me to keep this a secret. It was earlier today when I was walking through the halls.
I stopped short on hearing two hushed voices around the corner.
"Are you sure about this your majesty?" A voice asked. It was deep and rough soundly, like a man's voice.
"Yes, I need to speak to him." A female voice said. My mother..
"Your majesty...." He said.
"I will speak to him." She said. Soon the footsteps became louder, coming towards me. I closed my eyes hoping I would shrink.
"Adrianna?" My mother asked. I opened my eyes to find her standing before me. Her blue dress swept across the floor, from being dropped from her grip.
"Mom...." I say shakily.
She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, "You heard didn't you?"
"Yes...?" I say slowly.
"Listen, Adrianna you can't tell anyone. Not even Isabella. This is important."
"You're going to speak to him? Jake..?" I ask.
My mother hesitated. "Yes..."
"Why?"
"Because it's important th—""Adrianna are you even listening to me?" A voice asks.
I whirl around to see Izze standing with her hands on her hips. She looks at me for a second before coming to me side. Searching my eyes.
"Are you okay?" She asks.
I shake my head and shrug, "Just spaced out I guess. What were you saying?"
"I was asking what do you think our party will look like. With you know the decorations?" Izze says.
"Oh, well what ever Lillian comes up with will be great. She always does a fantastic job, every year." I say smiling.
"True...well I'm off. See ya Anna!" Isabella says before leaving me alone.
I sigh and walk out my bedroom and down the halls. There wasn't really a destination in mind, I just wandered our castle walls. Until I came across three bedrooms. They were the ones Sarah, Sean and Rachel had...I was stopped in front of Rachel's door before swinging it open.
Cool air escaped through the doors, sending goosebumps down my arms. I stepped in and shut the door. Rachel's guest room felt weird. Maybe it was the fact she was gone, and I missed her. I missed all of them. Sean, Rachel and Sarah. I missed the days with them here. Even in the forest with Sarah and Kayla and her parents.
I wish those bombs never went off. Then my father wouldn't be dead, Sarah and Kayla's father wouldn't be, everything would be okay.
I gasped and my hand flew up to my mouth. Oh my gosh..I squeezed my eyes shut wishing I could take back what I just said.
That was just so rude Adrianna...I opened my eyes and slowly walked over to the couch and sat. Outside the window was the garden. The roses in the corner were slowly closing. Summer was coming to an end, and our birthday was slowly approaching.
Today was August seventh, eight more days."What are you doing in here Adrianna?"
Turning around I see Collin leaning against the door frame. I get up and brush off my dress.
"Collin."
"Sis..." He says. Then silence overtakes the room. Collin clears his throat, "So what are you doing in here?"
I sigh, "Just came to see their rooms..I miss them.."
After a short while he said quietly, "I miss them too."
"Yeah."
He looked up and leaned back and forth on his feet. I raised and eyebrow at him and he mumbled something before speaking. "Do you know where Izze is?"
I cross my arms over my chest, "That's why you are here? You figured you'd go to me because knowingly you would think I would know since I'm her identical twin."
"N-no it's not that it s just..." He sighed and ran a hand through his messy dirty blonde hair. "I just wanted to apologize about earlier when I was with her. She wa—"
I put up a hand, "She told me."
"Of course she did..." He muttered.
"Well I don't know where she is so go." I say motioning to the door.
"Okay, okay. I'm leaving." He said. "See ya later!" He then called over his shoulder.
"Totally..." I mutter under my breath. I scooped up my skirt and walked out of the rooms.
Somehow these halls seemed different. The walls were the same. Same pictures that decorated the walls, same lanterns that lit the wares up. Something just seemed different and I didn't know what. I continued to walk towards my room, when my name was called.
"Princess Adrianna!"
I turn around to see Lillian, my mother's maid, walking towards me. "Hello Lillian."
She stops in front of me, taking a few breathes, "Mother..wants.." Lillian shook her head, "Her Majesty would like to see you in the throne room."
"Of course, thanks." I say changing my directions, I walk down through the halls before approaching the stairs. Carefully I make my way down, trying not to slip. Being a princess definitely requires balance...
I walk into the throne room to see my mother standing there. Waiting for me.
She smiled, "Good you came. No one followed you right?"
"No..?"
My mom nods and pulls me towards the dungeon doors...I look at her expecting her
to explain, but she doesn't. We walk up the dark stairs and into the faintly lit halls.
"Why are we here?" I whisper.
"Because I promised I would take you alone." She whispers back as we approach a door. I blink and a flashback appears. She sighed and look at me. "If you want I will take you there with me......."
"Adrianna in here." My mother says. I follow her into a room all to familiar. The same room we were in and out cold. When we first came back...
"Your majesty." A voice says weakly.
My head snaps to my right to see Jake. Or what's left of him...his hair was a mess and he was filthy.
"Jake." Is all my mother says. He looks up and his eyes widen when they land on me.
"Adrianna..." He whispers. I step forward careful to keep distance. Jake laughs slightly. "Please I wouldn't hurt you. Your family would definitely be-head me."
"I'd do much worse before you did anything." I say quietly.
"Have anything new to spare today Jake?" My mom asks calmly. As if she was having a regular conversation.
He takes a deep breathe, "Not that I can think of. Plus I'd be more helpful if I could go back to that place."
I raised an eyebrow, "that place? Why don't you call it home?"
He laughs, "It's no home. Even Ryan knows that. My father was all into just power. Didn't really care after our mom died."
It was silent for a while before my mother took me out and we came back to the throne room.
"that was...." I started.
"Usual.." my mom says before leaving me.
I started to walk out of the throne room when I stopped and looked back at the dungeon doors. Half of me was telling me not to, but the bigger half told me to.I headed towards the dungeons.
There were no guards in sight which I don't even think I noticed when I was here a few minutes ago. I stopped in front of the cell room. Slightly regretting this, I felt like my sister. Always wanting to know things.
I sighed and stepped in, shutting the door behind me. My feet carried me until I stood a foot or two away from the bed. Jake looked up at me surprised.
"Adrianna...?" He asked slowly.
I lifted my chin, "Jake."
