My stomach slammed into Rachel's forearm as she stopped me. "Wait...." She whispered.
I rolled my eyes and crouched down next to her. We had gotten out of the castle. Only to make it not even past the wall.
"What are we waiting for?" I ask quietly.
She puts a finger up and drops it. "There's someone over there."
"Is it a guard?" I ask trying to look around her.
Rachel shakes her head and I glance behind us. Never once did I think I'd be sneaking out, of a castle of all things.
"I think we are good. We just have to weave our way through the trees. Down the gravel path without being seen." Rachel said as her mind turned.
She turns to me and I raise an eyebrow. She honestly thinks this is going to be easy.
"You act as if it's the most well thought out plan." I say.
"Do you have a better one?" Rachel asks.
When I don't answer she simply nods and dashes to a tree. Her body firmly against it as if she was holding on for dear life.
I glance around me quickly before running to a tree next to her's. The rough tree bark clawed at my back as I sagged against it.
"Come on!" Rachel hissed as she swiftly ran passed.
For a second I watched as she made her way from tree to tree. I finally snapped out of it as she started drifting away.~*~
A few minutes later, small houses came into view. Chimney's letting out puffs of smoke. Voice grew more visible as Rachel and I continued to duck behind trees.
"We are almost to my grandmothers kingdom....Well her castle." Rachel says softly as we walk into the village.
People were carrying on their day without a care in the world. It almost made me feel sick to my stomach. Seeing everyone happy. Thinking that something will happen just like what happened to my home.
"How far do we have to go to get to your grandmothers?" I ask.
"Not to long." She says shrugging. We continue to breeze our way through the crowd. I'd seen a few people glance our way, or maybe it was just something past us.
I jerked away as a hand grabs my forearm. My head snapped up to a guard looking at me. Analyzing my face very carefully. Rachel seemed to stop, she watched carefully.
"You aren't from here..." He said slowly.
I swallow the lump that starting forming in my throat. "Just trying to get home, me and my little sister went on a journey. To get bread from the bakery." I say calmly. Rachel grabs onto my other arm, cautiously.
"What village would that be?" He asks. My eyes shoot down to wear his other hand rests on his sword. Rachel tugs on my arm and her eyes drift over the people. People were slowly starting to realize the scene before them.
"What village?" The guard repeats sounding impatient. To be honest I had know idea the name of the village where Rachel's cousins were.
I open my mouth, but Rachel brats me to it, "It's the village of Cosadonia!"
"Of Queen Elizabeth?" He asked sternly.
"Yes, we live there with our mother Caroline and our father Emmett." I say as I try to muster up some calmness.
"Actually they belong to me." A voice booms. My eyes widen in horror as he approaches us. We can't go back, I won't go back.
I shake my arm out of the guard's grip and grab Rachel's hand. "No we don't. You kidnapped me and took my from my family."
"You are coming with me." He says.
A man grabs my arm and pushes me towards the king. I see people back away, scared. Rachel stumbles forward and latches a hand onto my arm.
This wasn't suppose to happen. Rachel was suppose to be able to get us back.~*~
"Obviously you don't know that you are suppose to stay here." He said calmly. "Now if you'll excuse me I have to replace a window again..." He glared at Rachel. Once she looked away, he turned to leave.
I shot up and pushed past a guard. "What do you want with us?" I shouted. He stopped and turned slowly to face me.
"You and your foolish, ignorant friends have my son locked up!" He shouted. Rachel and I looked at each other in confusion.
His son?
Rachel took a breathe and stepped forward. "Jake?"
"Of course you doofus! It all your family's fault!" He screamed.
Rachel took another wary step forward. "I'm sorry about your son, but you can't blame us for any of it. Taking us won't bring your son back."
"Lock them up." Is all he says before leaving.~*~
My fists slam against the wall over and over again. Rachel was lying down on the bed in the corner silently. Again I slammed them to the wall.
"Sean stop." Rachel groaned.
I whirl around to face her.
"Stop? Rachel don't you get we are locked up here for probably the rest of our lives? I'll never get to see my sister's again!" I yell.
She sat up and stood looking up at me. Her eyes boring into mine. "Well at least you have your sister's, my parents are dead. Now stop." Rachel sat back down. A tear fell and she whispered,
"We'll get out, I know it."
