AN: I think we are getting close to an end with Royals, but don't worry I will definitely write a sequel!!!
Because I just love this book so much and don't want to get rid of these incredible characters, not that they could ever leave me.
Hope you enjoy Chapter 32 (in Rachel's pov), just know there are lots of flashbacks from her past. Enjoy resting!!
The sun was setting as we got closer and closer to Cosadonia, my cousin's kingdom. As Sean and I continued walking, flash backs kept coming to me."We need to go there." I say to the boy Sean as we walk.
Though I did just meet him, I felt like I was growing to like him as a friend. He was generous enough to take me with him after the village was destroyed and raided. Killing basically everyone.
He was also brave, much braver than me. Though it might've been because Sean's older. He seventeen and me only thirteen.
"Why exactly is that Rachel?" Sean asks me. Not one bit thinking what I was thinking would be good.
I looked at him as we walked side by side amongst the trees. "Because....they are my family and I know they can help..."
"That's not much of a reason." He deadpans.
"To me it is." I say quietly.I snap back into reality as I realize our surroundings. We came to a fork in the road, which made me immediately brighten. The castle was so close, close enough we could hopefully see it.
"This way." I say and Sean follows me."It's right this way, I know it!" I exclaim and walk faster. Sean never leaving my side.
The walls are in clear view. At this point I was running to the first gate I saw. When I got there I abruptly stopped.
Smoke filled the air and everything was silent. Quiet enough you could probably hear a pin drop.
I could hear Sean's steady breathing from behind me. Slowly I walked forward, but he stopped me. I knew this was a bad idea, but I needed to know if they were here. If they were even alive.I let out a shaky breathe as we reached the wall of the castle. The sun was now fully down and it was almost pitch dark.
"Now what?" Sean asks from behind me.
I turn to look at him. His eyes never leaving my freckled, pale face. "Let's go by the stables or possibly sleep in a tree?" I say slowly.
He shakes his head and sighs, "A tree will do I guess..." I nod in response and walk over to a tree. Ready to climb it and sleep."Rachel come on!" The little girl from next door called. I shot up and looked out my window. Seeing her smile at me and wave. I do the same before running down the stairs to see her.
Lauren and I, we were buddies. We always hung out together and played. I was ten, only two years older than her, but sometimes age to us didn't matter. All that mattered was we were going to be best friends forever.
"Where we going today Lauren?" I ask as we walk side by side through the square.
She's quiet for a moment, thinking before she speaks up. "We're going to climb a tree." Lauren said with a smile.
I grin at her and we both ran towards the open field. Towards one of the biggest trees there was. It was a tall oak tree, seemingly been there for years. Longer than I've even been around.
There was a low branch that Lauren boosted me up to. I turned and grabbed her small hands, pulling her along. We climbed until a quarter of the way up.
I slowly looked down from my sitting position. Taking in the view of our small village. It was beautiful, little did I know I would lose it all...I sat up letting out a small gasp. Tears stained my cheeks and I roughly wiped them away. I turned to where Sean had slept and started to panic. It was an empty bare branch.
"Rachel come on!" A voice whispered. I peer down to see Sean staring up at me. Slowly I make my way down until I'm standing next to him. Him towering over my small body.
We nod at each other before running into the castle grounds and behind the stables. Sean grabbed my attention by pointing towards the castle it's self.
Lights, streamers and balloons decorated the back area of the castle. The lights glowed so bright that we could visibly make each one out.
My eyes widen as I remembered what today was. "It's Adrianna and Isabella's birthday...." I whisper.
"What?" Sean asks clearly must've not heard me.
"It's their birthday." I say, not believing that I forgot their birthday.
I felt terrible, but no they won't be disappointed. That's what you got to love about your cousin's...
