I woke up the next morning lying on my back, and Everley on top of me. She had her blanket tucked under her chin and she was holding it along with sprinkles in her right hand. How we got to this position was a complete mystery but I wasn't mad at it. I gently lifted her off of me and lay her next to my position. I was hungry and I'm sure Everley will be too once she wakes up. I went to the kitchen and started to make pancakes from the box. I had just gotten the first few cooking in the skillet when my doorbell rang. As soon as it did Everley started to cry, I went into my room to pick her up. Once she was in my arms she calmed down a bit, but tears were still running down her red cheeks. After I picked her up I quickly hurried towards the door and opened it. Behind the door stood my old friend Mahogany.
"Mahogany,hi! What are you doing here?"
"Morning Shawney! I saw the picture of this little cutie you sent me yesterday and I was dying to know what it was all about so now I'm here!"
"Cool come on in."
"Great!" I introduced Everley to Mahogany, and right off the bat I could tell she was super nervous. She clung to me like it was the last thing she was ever going to do. After a few minutes of Mahogany and I coaxing E to talk, she finally came a bit out of her shell and was answering some of Mahogany's questions. All of a sudden I smelt a horrible smell, like something was burning. That was when I remembered the pancakes. I quickly hopped up off the floor and ran into the kitchen, only to find black "pancakes". I grabbed the spatula and took them off the skillet and replaced the old pancakes with some new batter. Foot steps came in behind me and I felt someone hug my leg.
"Hey Shawn?"
"Yes bug?"
"Im hungry!"
Well that's a good thing because I'm making breakfast."
"It doesn't smell like it, Shawn." Mahogany butted in.
"Well that's because you decided to visit me."
"Ok,ok just blame it alll on me."
"Oh I will!" After our little banter I was able to get some none-burnt pancakes on the table. The three of us are having bits and pieces of conversation. By the end Mahogany had to leave because she had to film a video, and I had to get little miss Eve into a bath. This was an eventful morning for sure.
