Sleepless

I had high hopes of actually getting sleep tonight but that was not happening. I got Nolan asleep after dinner and then I gave Eve a bath. After getting her comfortable and almost asleep (after 6 bed time stories) Nolan woke up screaming bloody murder. She perked up out of her sleepy state and followed me out of the room to check on him. I picked Nolan up and held him until he calmed down a bit. I noticed a small figure in my doorway looking confused.

"He ok?"

"Yup he's just upset... kind of when you get mad when you can't have cookies."

"He want cookie?"

"No. Why don't you go get in bed and once I get him to sleep I can read you another bedtime story. Sound good?" She yawned and stalked back to her room.

Flipping on a few lights in the kitchen I made a bottle of formula for Nolan. It was currently 2 am and I was past exhausted. This was the 8th time I had woken up tonight because Nolan was crying. I understand he's in a new home and is still getting used to it but I would think that even a nine month baby would even want to sleep.

After he finished and I got him back in his crib sleeping, I decided to make the bold choice of going back to my "crib" to hopefully get a few more hours before having to wake up again. My bed never felt more comfortable, and when I was finally drifting off to sleep the hallway light switched on. The door to my room creaked open more letting more light flood in.

"Daddy?"

"hmmmm..."

"I-I has a bad dream again." My body let out a groan as I sat up to greet my daughter.

"Come on love bug." she ran over to me so I could pick her up and lay her next to me. "It's been a rough night hasn't it?"

"ya..." She said starting to drift off in a little ball next to me. I kissed her forehead and tried to fall asleep myself.
