Sick

Needless to say my flawless routine did not last long. Two beautiful days it had worked out wonderfully. Two calm days between me and my kids. I knew it was over when I heard someone's sniffling and footsteps enter my room. I peeled open my eyes to look at my curly haired little girl. She raised her arms signaling she wanted up, so that's exactly what I did. My little one immediately snuggled into my side and I could feel heat.
"You not feeling good baby?" I asked running my hands through her curls to only feel more heat radiating from her head. My one question got a sob out of her.
"I feel icky daddy!" She almost yelled.
"Awe I'm sorry baby, what hurts?" I asked rubbing her back trying to soothe her; crying and working herself up wasn't going to help. I had learned the hard way from when I had to watch Aliyah when my patents were away for the weekend.
"My head and tummy." She said coming back down to sniffles. I was going to be in for a long night. I thought back to my weekend with Aliyah again. How I woke up every hour with her.
"It'll be ok baby. Can daddy go get a couple of things super quick?"
"Won't be away long?"
"Nope. I'll be back before you know it." I gave her a reassuring smile.
"Ok..." I swiftly got up and went into the kitchen to grab a bowl in case of emergency and then the bathroom for the thermometer and medicine. I then went back to the kitchen to get her a sippy cup with some water. When I was little I'd get too hot in my sleep and wake up feeling sick because I only needed some water.
"Ok love I'm back." I announced, her only whimpering at my words. I turned on the light to my room and set everything on my bed. The light disturbed Nolan and caused him to start his whimpers before the deafening screams. I mentally cursed at myself.
"I lied Eve I'll be back again."
"No daddy!" I heard her plead as I scooped up her brother to take out into our living room. I had his pack and play set up in there at all times in case I couldn't watch him while I was cooking. Putting him down back to sleep, I went back into the room with my sicky. Getting and actual look at her with the light on was a poor sight to see. Her cheeks were bright red against her unnaturally pale skin along with glazed over eyes.
"Ok then missy let's get you all fixed up, yes?" I got a nod from her in response.
After finding out her 101.4 degree fever I gave her some medicine and a bit of water to wash down. I placed the bucket down beside where she was sleeping and turned off the light before letting my munchkin curl into me for what I hoped would be the remainder of the night.

Oh boy, an update! Sorry... I've been very busy. More to come!
