Chapter Eleven: The Unexpected

(Third person pov)

     "Rise and shine." The nurse said as she opened the curtains wide enough for the sun to brighten the whole room.

Zach began rubbing his eyes as he awoke, "Water, I need water," He begged.

Joanna quickly got up and poured him a glass of cold water as he tried to get up.

"Where am I?" he asked.

"Honey, you're in the hospital,"

"What happend?" Zach asked in confusion.

"You were stabbed by a mad man, he is being taken care of right now. He is going to be executed this upcoming Saturday," Joanna explained.

"Who is being executed?" he asked.

"Mariam's father," She answered.

"Who's Mariam?" Zach squinted his left eye.

Both of his parents opened their eyes wide open in total shock.

"You don't remember Mariam?"

"No, who are you? And who are you?" he points at both of his parents.

His mother placed both hands on her face in total shock.

"Honey, its me, your mother. You don't remeber me?" She gasped.

"Am I supposed to remember you?" Zach asked, rubbing his eyes.

His mother began to cry her heart out, "My baby has lost his memory, he doesn't remember anyone,"

The doctor, overhearing everything, began to explain, "I believe these are side effects due to the cause of the deep wound. We almost lost him, after reviving him, it almost seemed like a miracle. He also had a fractured skull from either falling or being hit with something. I believe he will gain his memory back in no time,"

"Well, how long do you think it will take Doctor?" Joanna asked.

"Well, judging by our previous patients. It may take a couple of days, a week, a month, or possibly years. Im so sorry." the doctor answered with a sincere voice.

"NO!" Joanna said as she put her arm around her face and began punching the wall. She sat next to Zach, holding his hand, not wanting to let go.

Waking up to the sound of honks, and sirens, Mariam was finally up.

She rubbed her eyes and got out of her car. She power walked towards the elevator and sprinted to Zach's room.

She slightly opened the door, looking into the room she spotted Joanna.

Joanna turned to look at the door and stood up.

"I swear, I just want to know how he's doing," Mariam explained.

"Come in, come in, maybe he'll remember you," Joanna said.

"Remember me? what?" Mariam asked in confusion.

She walked in and saw Zach was awake. She held his hand, "Babe, are you okay? Im so sorry, I never meant for any of this to happen. Im just happy you're okay." She leaned over to hug him, but he pushed her away.

She was confused, "Excuse me, but do I know you? What the hell are you saying?" Zach softly asked.

She shook her head, not understanding a thing. She was in shock, she turned to look at the doctor.
