"Woah, what are you writing?" Harry asked curiously after taking a quick glance over my shoulder as he was passing by.
"Huh?" I looked up temporarily, still focused on my work. "Oh this? That's Hangul (Korean)" I answered like it was no big deal because to me, it really isn't.
Harry sat down next to me on the table with interest, arms rested on the table and chin lying on his arms, hair splayed out around him as he observed me writing.
"Wow, that is so cool! I didn't even know you could do that, why didn't you tell me?" Harry bombarded me with questions.
I smiled, secretly happy that I've managed to impress Harry but replied as noncholantly as possible: "Oh, it's nothing really.... I have cousins who are in Korea and they taught me a thing or two. I'm currently writing a letter to my penpal, Junghwa from Korea!"
Harry scrunched up his eyebrows, squinting his eyes like they would somehow help him decipher the strange letters.
"Y/N?"
"Yes, Haz?"
"What are you even writing about?"
I giggled and explained the content of my letter patiently: "Well, I'm saying hello how are you here...." I pointed to the first sentence and pointed accordingly as I read through: "And this here says that I heard National Day is coming up soon, how is she planning to celebrate."
I could feel Harry's intense gaze and I couldn't help but blush: "What?"
He grinned and asked me how to say I love you in Korean.
I sang: "Sarangheyooooo, Harry oppaaaaa~"
Harry chuckled and pulled me closer to him, asking me to repeat it.
"So, you say Sa..." I prompted.
"Sa."
"Rang, like re-ang."
"Hey yoooooo...." I pretended I was a cool hipster and did weird gestures which cracked Harry up.
"Sarangheyo." Harry grinned, showing his dimple as he gave me a sweet kiss on the lips.
"Sarangheyo." I repeated like a dork and the both of us giggled.
______
"How do you write my name in Korean?" Harry asked next as I handed him a pen and taught him stroke by stroke how to write his name.
He ended up with a wobbly 하리. "So that means Harry but it's pronounced Ha-ri in Korean." I explained.
He wrote his name over and over with interest. He even learnt mine! Harry's a fast learner and soon, I taught him the basic consonance and vowels.
The both of us were laughing so hard because Harry kept pronouncing things weirdly and western-y? I assured him that it takes practice to master writing and speaking.
We had a blast and Harry even wrote a word or two to Junghwa, just saying Hi signed off with his name, LMAO.
We must've spent an hour doing that and Harry even took it to Twitter to show off!
"I learnt a bit of Korean from Y/T/N! My name is 하리, 안녕 (Hi)....."
For the rest of the day, Harry wouldn't shut up, saying sarangheyo over and over again in my ears and giving me cuddles and kisses...
아 귀여워. (Ahhhh cute) :)
