I flew over with Harry to Brazil for the 1D World Tour and today, the management had allowed the boys 5 hours of freedom till rehearsal. Harry was ecstatic and the both of us took nothing but each other, our phones, money and a map before setting out on an amazing adventure ahead of us.
Luckily for the both of us, the hotel we both live in is pretty close to Copacabana inRio de Janeiro, which is famous for its beach(one of the best in the world) and lively neighbourhood. The both of us decided to travel on foot there.
Somewhere somehow, we took a wrong turn , what with the both of us taking typical tourist pictures everywhere and getting preoccupied with each other.
"No, Harry! This is the wrong way! We're actually going back to the hotel now!" I pointed to a street sign that's written in Portugese.
"We saw that sign when we're just taking off from the hotel." I added as Harry looked dumb-struck.
"No fucking way..." Harry gaped at the sign and I burst out laughing at how the both of us just spent 45 minutes walking back here.
"We must've took the wrong turn somewhere..." Harry muttered and turned towards me again.
"We better ask the locals here, it'll definitely be much easier than deciphering maps." I agreed and almost immediately, spotted a perfect candidate to pop the question.
I went up to an old lady followed by Harry and tried to show off the limited Portuguese that I've spent a few days secretly learning.
I tapped on her shoulder and asked politely: "Senor, caminho para Copacabana.... uhm... beach?" Which I thought translates to madam, way to Copacabana beach?
Harry looked at me in amusement but the lady looked furious and stalked away.
"Did I say it right?" I muttered to yourself self-consciously.
"I have no idea but I did catch the word senor... Doesn't that mean sir?" Harry suggested and my hands flew up to my mouth.
"Oh my gosh, I called her sir by accident! It was supposed to be senora! Stupid, stupid stupid!" I hit my head several times.
"Hey, hey it's alright.... at least she kinda looks like one." Harry whispered the last part playfully, trying to lighten the mood.
"Harry..." I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Sorry, senora!" I yelled, hopefully loud enough for her to hear as she's getting further and further.
~~~~~~~~
We finally managed to find the Copacabana beach and there, we took even more typical beach pictures and lied under the bright sunshine.
Harry went away for a little while to get us some drinks and as I was looking at the amazing view ahead of me sitting on my beach towel, a friendly guy started speaking to me in Portuguese.
I couldn't understand a word but I gave him a friendly smile. He smiled back and bend down to reach for my sunscreen bottle, squeezing a generous amount and I thought that he was just borrowing some but he thrusted his arms towards me, as if he's trying to rub lotion on me.
"Wait, what?" I murmured and spoke in simple English: "No, no, no!"
"Hey! What's going on?" Harry's voice rang out and that man looked startled. I turned to see Harry beside me, drinks in hand.
That man shrugged and went away defeated. Harry glared at that man and threw me a questioning look.
"Woah, don't look at me like that! He spoke in fluent Portuguese and I have no idea what he's saying so I just gave him a friendly smile then that happened!" I threw up my hands in defense quickly as I know jealous Harry usually turns into dark Harry.
"Baby..." I cooed, running my fingers across his chest seductively. "I didn't mean to, okay? Can we just enjoy the company of each other and the sunshine?"
Harry finally smiled and pecked my lips. "As you wish, sweetheart."
The beach was crowded with happy people chattering, playing volleyball, building sandcastles and basically relaxing.
When we sat at a kiosk near the beach to order some hot food, we couldn't understand the menu as it was only written in Portuguese. We just tried our luck and crossed our fingers that what we ordered isn't too far from what we originally wanted.
"This is actually so exciting... Like a lucky draw on food." I commented while checking out the view from here.
"Babe, smileeeee...." Harry suddenly said and I turned to look at him. He snap a photo of me and I cringed: "Arghhhh!"
"Look how pretty my girl is!" He presented his phone to me and I couldn't help but smile back. That picture captured my curiousness of this foreign country and happiness of being here perfectly.
The waitress came back with our food shortly and I guess we got lucky in the food lucky draw because hello, fish and chips and skewered peri-peri chicken!
~~~~~~
The 5 hours was up just like that, and while we're walking back, Harry placed his arms around my shoulder affectionately.
"Well, what a day! Today sure is eventful, what with the beach, the pretty view and the mysterious food lucky draw." Harry smiled down at me.
"Don't forget the accidental senor mistake..." I reminded him while groaning.
"Hey, even though our Portuguese isn't the best, at least I know that je t'aime..."
"Oh God, Harry! Je t'aime is French, not Portuguese....." I slapped my hand to my face.
Harry laughed and said: "Oh well, at least I know in ENGLISH that I love you."
You stared at him and suddenly, Harry pressed his lips against yours.
"Ti amo." He tried again after the kiss and I interjected.
"Harry, that's Spanish."
"Oh hush, same difference."
