Lauren's P.O.V

The sound of a pan crashing downstairs and a mumble of "fuck!" woke me up, as I jumped up and rubbed my eyes. I groaned to see it was only eight before I made my way downstairs, only wearing one of Steven's t-shirts and underwear.

"Steve? Steve, what are you doing?" I borderline shouted, as I made my way to the small kitchen, only to see a pan on the floor and uncooked food on the counter.

He sighed, "I'm trying to make you breakfast but clearly that isn't going to plan..." I giggled lightly before seeing him look up at me. "It's not funny"

"It is most definitely funny." I laughed making my way over to him. "It's the thought that counts babe."

He slowly looked up at me, reaching out his arms and embracing me in a hug. "I haven't told you I love you today, yet, have I?"

"Actually yes, you did. This morning when you got up."

"I thought you were asleep? That doesn't count." He chuckled as I laughed lightly, giving him a gentle kiss on the lips.

"I love you too."

After a few hours of attempting to make breakfast, which involved some unintentional make out sessions, we eventually made something edible and made our way to the small living room and cuddled up on the couch. Steven was looking through the movies as I tried to get a bit more comfortable, before ending up going to find some paracetamol.

"Babe? Where you going?"

"I've got a headache..." I mumbled, looking through one of my bags to successfully find a strip of the pills in my bag.

"I bet it's from that wine last night." He smiled over at me, beckoning me to come back over to the couch.

"Steve, i only had a few glasses."

"Exactly. You're a light weight. It's so easy for you to get tipsy." He chuckled as I walked back over to him, after quickly taking the painkillers.

"I was not tipsy!" I laughed, knowing that was half true, since I wasn't entirely tipsy, but I was almost there.

I looked down at Steven, who had a massive grin on his face as he pulled me down into his lap, and cuddled me close. It was random, but that's what I loved about him. He didn't give you a warning for when he just wanted to sure his affection, which in most cases was something I would love for a long, long time.

But as I asked him a simple question, he tensed up, almost like he was freaking out, not knowing what to tell me in response.

"what couldn't you find last night?"

"uh... um.... I can't remember." He laughed nervously, "mustn't have been important as it was last night." He continued the forced laughter as I raised an eyebrow, knowing straight up that this was a lie.

"You know that character you played not to long ago? You know the one who wore baseball caps in season 2?" I questioned, earning a confused nod from him. "You know how he was shit at lying? You're the same."

He sighed, "Okay... Can I tell you when we get home? it'll just be easier then."

I did a small nod in response, not knowing whether to feel angry or upset at the fact he was keeping something from me. We don't keep secrets. That's the whole point.

He noticed that my happy nature had slowly made it's way out of my brain as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me towards his chest, holding me close. "I promise it's something good... okay? No need to be upset baby... I don't wanna be the reason either..."

I only nodded in response, not feeling up to talking about the situation, as it would only end in a fight. I suddenly heard and felt my phone buzz in my pocket, before taking it out and looking at the lock screen.

New message from Alanna:) 10:55 am

Alanna:) : Yooooooo when are you two love birds coming home? because these children are missing you bothhhhhhhhh xx

One attachment.

Before I replied, i looked at the attachment, which was in fact a picture of Addy and Nova, sleeping soundly, making me smile.

"What?" Steven tried to peek at what I was looking at but i just showed him, saving him the struggle. "awe... I miss them."

"Me too... Alanna was wondering when we're heading home, because apparently they're missing us." I looked back at the picture, smiling warmly at the sight of my children before me, but a pang of sadness lingered as i couldn't be with them in person.

"Well... I was thinking of heading home tomorrow morning, we can chill out for a bit." Steven smiled, but had a look of mischief on his face, before leaning in and kissing me.

If you only knew what he was planning...
