Lauren's P.O.V

"Are you sure? I mean, you don't have to take them, we could take them with us." I said, holding my babies close to me and kissing their heads. Of course I wanted to spend time with Steven, but the thought of being away from my children for more than a few hours kills me.

"Lauren. It's going to be fine. I promise you. And if you feel like you're missing them, just Skype me, then you can see that they're perfectly fine." Alanna smiled, reaching for Nova, who I hesitantly let her take.

I hugged Adeline closer to me before looking up at Alanna again, "I'll help take them out to the car."

Alanna smiled sweetly at me, clearly seeing that I didn't want to leave them. As soon as we got to the car, I placed Adeline in her car seat (Alanna doing the same with Nova) and kissed her head, then Nova's. I slowly backed out of the car and was soon replaced with Steven, who did the same.

"So... you two been talking much?" Alanna said as she walked over to me, near the hood of the car.

I sighed, "no... not really. I feel so bad."

"No, don't be. Like I said, it's not going to get better if he's freaking out. You did nothing wrong. It's not your fault." She said strictly before hugging me, "just have a good time this weekend, text me if you're worried about the twins."

"I will..." I smiled slightly, pulling away.

Soon enough, Alanna and the twins were gone, which left me and Steven packing for our weekend. It was awkward for a while, neither one of us daring to utter a word. Until the silence was too much.

As I was folding my clothes, ready to go into the suitcase, I muttered, "Are we gonna talk about this?"

"About what?" He replied bluntly, continuing to pack the clothes from the wardrobe (and some of the boxes that hadn't been fully unpacked).

"You know what..." I almost mumbled, walking over to stand next to him. "We can't spend a weekend like this Steve... we either sort it out now, or we don't go."

He sighed, "fine. Talk to me. Don't talk about me behind my back. If you have a problem with the way I'm being-"

"I don't have a problem with-"

"THEN tell me. Don't just bitch about me like some girls in middle school, okay? Is it sorted? Good."

I rubbed my face, not knowing how to reply. He can't handle his own feelings, and he's even worse at explaining them, which can (most times) come off as rude. "I said I was sorry. I don't know how to make it up to you."

"Me. Neither." He said with a cocky tone as he took my piled up clothes, that were neatly folded, and placed them in the case, doing the same with his. "What shoes are you taking?"

I slowly handed them to him as he shoved them in, then his, then zipping it up. As he did this, I took a step closer and placed a hand on his shoulder, making him move away. However, I continued to place my hand back. "Hey. Hey. Hey. Stop this. Just calm down a second." I held his arms, turning him to face me. "Just take a breather. Alright? I don't want you getting really frustrated..."

He nodded slightly, taking a deep breath in before continuing to pack, but at a much slower speed.

"I'm gonna go on a quick walk." I said quietly, before dashing down the stares and jamming my running shoes on, and quickly leaving. I felt relieved that I decided to wear leggings and a tank top today, meaning if I decided to run, it would be more convenient.

The thought of our current situation continuing further when we're supposed to be having a calm, relaxed weekend away, kills me. We barely have arguments because there's nothing for us to argue about. Nor disagree on. But when we do have a disagreement, it's not solved by screaming. In fact, it's barely solved at all. No one wants to shout. No one wants to get angry. We both want to make up. But no one makes the first move. And that's how it continues to be.

Unfortunately.

I pulled out my phone and headphones, that I managed to grab on the way out, and plugged them in before picking a song to listen to. When I finally found a song that intrigued me, I played it, put my phone on airplane mode and put it back in my pocket and started running down the streets, in the hopes of calming down.

As the cool air and dark sky quickly made its way to the city, I decided it was time to get back home. I slowly took my phone out as I saw the familiar houses in front of me, telling me that I was on our street. I turned the airplane mode off and all the notifications came through, which was something to my despair.

12 missed calls from Steve

(8:42pm)Steve ♡: I'll come pick you up

(8:58pm) Steve ♡: look if you don't come home soon I'm gonna come find you

(9:30pm) Steve ♡: Lauren.

I looked at the time to see that message had only just been sent, making me dash to our home.

As soon as I walked, I made sure to shut the door with a slight slam, just to make sure he knew I was home. Footsteps could be heard from the living room before he came into view. Then he stood there. And so did I. We just stared at each other. The only thing I could notice was the worry on his face, and his wet hair that rested on his forehead. In a second, Steve made his way towards me, enveloping me in a big hug and not letting go.

"You scared the shit out of me.." he mumbled into my shoulder, making me hug back tighter. "I'm sorry... I mean it I'm sorry..."

"Same here... I didn't know I had messages from you... I put my phone on airplane mode... but I'm also sorry for not talking to you. I didn't mean to sound so rude, I just..." I stopped to think, only to have the sentence finished by him.

"Didn't know how to tell me..."

"Exactly..."

He gently pulled away and wiped a tear from my cheek, which I didn't know was there, and cupped my face. "I love you... okay? I really fucking love you..."

I nodded, "I know... and I really love you too..."

He smiled, making my lips also creep into a smile. And before I knew it, he pulled me closer and connected our smiling lips in a deep kiss. Something that I had missed all day.
