Steven's P.O.V
I mentally cursed as I heard the alarm clock from beside me, making me turn over and smack it a few time to get it to shut up. I slowly opened one eye to see that it was 6am, making me groan - and Lauren as I heard - and turn on my side, reaching out to hold Lauren closer to me, to which she obliged to. I leant in closer and kissed her forehead, seeing a smile creep its way on to her lips.
"Morning gorgeous..." I smiled, kissing her head one more time before she sighed happily and opened her eyes.
"Morning..." she looked up at me, her facial expressions showing happiness, but also tiredness. When she glanced at the clock on the bedside table and saw how early it was, she snuggled into my embrace even more. "Why are we up so early?..." she groaned.
"I thought I set the alarm for seven... sorry babe.." I mumbled into her hair as I held her. She seemed to relax after that, as she then took it as an honest mistake. "So... when do you want to set off for this trip?" I smiled, gently kissing her shoulder a few times.
"Well... how long does it take to get there?" She mumbled, trying to get comfortable to fall back to sleep.
"Like... two hours... but, if we wanna get there, unpack, and have a relaxing night, then we should really get ready." I answered her question before kissing her head and standing up, hearing a slight grown from her as I did so.
"Do we have to?..." she mumbled into the pillow.
"Yes babe" I kissed her head one more time before getting some clothes I didn't pack. "Now get ready and eat some breakfast while I take a shower."
I walked to the door and was about to step out until I heard Lauren's voice.
"Hey... I love you."
I smiled. A big toothy smile. That's all that mattered to me, her love, especially after everything's that's happened recently. And I was happy to know I had it. "I love you too"
"Lauren!" I shouted from downstairs, having just put the suitcase in the car. "C'mon babe! Time to go!"
"Okay okay! Geez." She shouted back as she came downstairs. As she walked passed me I gently took her hand and pulled her back
"Not so fast" I smiled as she giggled and looked up at me. I gently placed a soft, tender kiss onto her lips, feeling her smile against my own as I wrapped my arms gently around her waist. "Let's just keep this weekend civil. I don't want us to fight."
"Me neither..." she smiled, before making her way outside.
There wasn't one thing that I hated about that woman. Because in my eyes, she's perfect.
"Awe that's adorable..."
"What?" I replied, glancing over at Lauren before focussing back on the road.
"There's this couple I know on insta and they just got engaged. Look!" I once again glanced and smiled slightly at her excitement.
"How come you're so happy about it?"
"It's a wedding... everyone loves weddings!" She says while laughing a little bit, making me chuckle. "And anyway... I like the idea of being engaged... think about it, getting hyped up to spend the rest of your life with the one person you know you're gonna love forever? A lot of people can just burst into happy tears just thinking about the fact that they're getting married in like two months! Or whenever their wedding is. I think it's magical. It's probably the best way to say 'I love you, be with me forever'... I don't know I'm soppy" she laughed, continuing to scroll through her phone.
"You're not soppy..." I gently placed my hand on her thigh, rubbing it gently with my thumb. "You just have a soft spot."
She laughed, making the car light up suddenly and giving it a whole new light. Her laugh was beautiful, she was beautiful. But it's sad when she doesn't think that. Yet, I have a feeling that all this negativity will change after this trip.
"...Steven you've just missed the turn." Lauren muttered, pulling me out of the daze, as she held the GPS in front of me, telling me to make a 'U' turn.
"Oh, shit. Right, okay." I mumbled and cussed, before making the 'U' turn and getting back on track.
"I dreamed a dream of time gone by..." I heard Lauren softly sing from beside me as she was just waking up from a nap and the song came on the radio. "When hope was high and life worth living..."
"Babe, do we have to listen to this? It's really depressing." I sighed before I rubbed my face.
"Well you've been in your own thought for the whole time that I was awake... so I think we should listen to it..." she mumbled, snuggling into her jacket that was gently laid over her.
"I haven't, if you talked I would've answered." I replied with an unintentional snarky tone, making her look at me with sadness, at how I just randomly changed my tone. "Sorry... I didn't- I didn't mean it like that... you know what I mean."
"Yeah... I do..." she replied quietly, reaching for my hand and interlocking our fingers gently, to which I brought closer to my face to place a light, small kiss onto the back of her hand.
"Good because I seriously don't want us to-"
"HE TOOK MY CHILDHOOD, IN HIS STRIDE!" She suddenly screamed, which startled me at first but then made me chuckle at her behaviour.
"You're so strange and childish..."
"I don't hear you complain."
"I know... because I love it."
Lauren's P.O.V
"Yay! We're here! Can I go sleep now please?" I said happily as I got out of the car, Steven following behind with the one suitcase.
It was a beautiful cabin. One of many, yet it had its own space. It was a short walk from the beach which to me, was important. It had a cosy but modern tone to it, making it feel like a real holiday home.
"How about we get unpacked first? Then we can take a nap?"
"OR I can call Tara while you unpack?" I smiled cheekily as he laughed lightly.
"Fine. If it's on video call."
"Yay!" I squealed as I hugged him and kissed his cheek. "I love you!"
He laughed before stopping for a moment and going really serious. "I love you too..." he slowly leaned in and locked our lips, dropping the bag to put a hand on my face to pull me closer. I smiled as I kissed back, enjoying this sweet, sweet moment.
